good vs. bad

John 1:4&5 "4 In Him was life; and the life was the light of men. 5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not." We studied the coming of Christ throughout the Advent season. Now, Christmas is here; we want to try to understand the incarnation of our Lord and Savior. We have returned to the Gospel of John were we read words that echo the first words of the Old Testament. When John wrote "In the beginning was the Word," he wants us to think of Genesis and Moses. He wants us to really understand that Jesus is the second person of the Holy Trinity, the Creator of the Universe! And, this is ALL GOD'S PLAN for our redemption.  Life is irrepressible. The life of the soul, the life of the spirit; life in the present, life in communion with God; life in the future, life in eternity. Today's verses; "In Him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not." ...

all things

John 1:1-3 "1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 The same was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made by Him; and without Him was not any thing made that was made." We have been reading Dr. Luke's Gospel there we learn some incredible insights on the ADVENT of the Messiah! His arrival into our world to SAVE us from ourselves! Joseph and Mary's experience along with the shepherds out in a field in the middle of NOWHERE in the middle of the night. They became witnesses to the arrival of the Messiah! They told everyone they encountered about the Devine Revelation shared with them! Luke and the people that shared their stories with him were not the only ones with great insight. Today we return to the Gospel of John were we read words that echo the first words of the Old Testament. It begins the Hebrew voice that John writes in. This was written with Moses and Genesis in mind. "In the beginning was the Word, and...

Footpath

My most recent art titled "Footpath." It's a idealic rendering of a valley in Israel. It started as a ball point pen sketch. I tried to make it more painterly and was struggling with it. Not satisfied with the look and feel. I then added the "line art" and it began to make sense to me and it came together. I dedicate this picture to the memory of my mother, Gloria Ann Krueger, who passed away on December 4th of 2022. During the time I was working on this illustration. One of her favorite poems was "Footprints in the Sand." Hopefully the idea of Footprints is implied in this image of a Footpath through the valley...

kept & pondered

Luke 2:18-20 "18 And all they that heard it wondered at those things which were told them by the shepherds. 19 But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart. 20 And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told unto them." These shepherds were given a really big show of light and sound from heaven to announce the birth of Jesus. Out in a field in the middle of NOWHERE in the middle of the night. They became witnesses to the arrival of the Messiah! They told everyone they encountered about the Devine Revelation shared with them! The mother of our Lord and Savior held these memories close to her heart. She shared her recollection with a selected few. Fortunately one of them was Dr. LUKE writing his Gospel for you and for me. Now, we have some incredible insights on the ADVENT of the Messiah! His arrival into our world to SAVE us from ourselves! There is so much for us to grasp and understand ...

concerning this child

Luke 2:15-17 "15 And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us. 16 And they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the Babe lying in a manger. 17 And when they had seen it, they made known abroad the saying which was told them concerning this child." These shepherds were given a really big show of light and sound from heaven to announce the birth of Jesus. Out in a field in the middle of NOWHERE in the middle of the night. They hoped for a warrior to lead them in a fight for freedom from their Roman overlords. They desperately needed a SAVIOR! They got a infant born into poverty, placed in a manger. He was not born of a King in a palace. He was not born of a priest in a temple. He was not born of a General to raised on the battlefield to become the hoped-for warrior. No, THE GLORY of the LOR...

peace to you

Luke 2:11-14 "11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. 12 And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the Babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. 13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, 14 Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men." This was the industrial light and magic show. Brilliantly bright in the night sky with the wall of sound blaring forth. All to announce the birth of Jesus. A spectacle witnessed by a handful of shepherds and their sheep. Out in a field in the middle of NOWHERE in the middle of the night. They received the message; "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth PEACE, good will TOWARD MEN." What were they thinking? What could their expectations be? Do we understand today? Do we still think the way people did back then? The Jewish homeland was occupied by the Roman Empire. They were lookin...

great joy to all people

Luke 2:8-10 "8 And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. 9 And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. 10 And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people." His name "EMMANUEL" which literally means "God with us." In this incarnation divine nature is united with the human nature. For the Holy family it became their everyday. Leading up to the birth in a little town that was unknown "Bethlehem." There was no celebration, and there was "NO ROOM" for Him! The world desperately needed a SAVIOR; the Jewish homeland was occupied by a hostile foreign super power. They were looking for a warrior to lead them in battle for freedom. Into this situation a helpless baby was born. At this time, the BIG announcement did not come to a p...

no room

Luke 2:4-7 4 And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David:) 5 To be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child. 6 And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered. 7 And she brought forth her firstborn Son, and wrapped Him in swaddling clothes, and laid Him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn." GOD spoke to Joseph in a dream; Mary's pregnancy was miraculous, instructed him to name the baby Jesus! Giving Joseph the mission of raising the Messiah!!! The Gospel of Matthew explains the importance of His name "EMMANUEL" which literally means "God with us." In this incarnation divine nature is united with the human nature. For the Holy family it became their everyday. Our verses this week fall between the dream and the raising of Jesus. On th...

everyday

Matthew 1:24&25 "24 Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife: 25 And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn Son: and he called His name JESUS." GOD reached out to Joseph in a dream! Revealing to him that Mary's pregnancy was indeed miraculous. And, instructed him to name the baby "Jesus! For He shall SAVE His people from their sins." Joseph will be taking care of the Messiah!!! The Gospel of Matthew explains the importance of this; "they shall call His name EMMANUEL," which literally means "God with us." In this incarnation divine nature is united with the human nature. The birth of this child is God saving His people. It's the most incredible thing to ever happen! And, for the Holy family it became their everyday; "Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife: And knew her not till she ...

God with us

Matthew 1:22&23 "22 Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, 23 Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a Son, and they shall call His name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us." GOD reached out to Joseph in a dream! Revealing to him that Mary's pregnancy is indeed miraculous. And, instructed him to name the baby "Jesus! For He shall SAVE His people from their sins." Joseph will be taking care of the Messiah!!! This baby was born to die for the sins of the world! Many have and do mistake Jesus's mission is to save them from their enemies, but it's not, He saves us from our sins; the guilt of them, and the power of them, and from the eternal danger of them. And, for everyone who will call Jesus their Lord and Savior can truly say "WHAT A RELIEF!" In today's verses Matthew explains the importance of this to his readers; "Now all this was do...

what a relief

Matthew 1:21 "And she shall bring forth a Son, and thou shalt call His name JESUS: for He shall save His people from their sins." WHAT A RELIEF! GOD reaches out to Joseph in a divine communication; a dream! Revealing to him that Mary's pregnancy is indeed miraculous. The child she carries in her womb is of divine origin! What blessed news this was to Joseph. He had come to the only conclusion any wise man could in his circumstances. But, all his fears were unfounded.  This news and these events are EVEN BETTER than anyone could hope or dream!!! Today's verse; "And she shall bring forth a Son, and thou shalt call His name JESUS: for He shall SAVE His people from their sins." Joseph's concerns go from his relationship with Mary to now he will be taking care of the Messiah!!! It is the will of God that the baby was named Jesus. In Hebrew it's "Joshua," or "Jeshua," in Greek it's "Jesus" and it means “Jehovah is salvatio...

of the Holy Ghost

Matthew 1:20 "But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost." Jesus Christ will be born of His Mother JUST LIKE every other human being. UNLIKE us though His Father was not another human being! His human father, Joseph, had to come to grips with this and will be the focus of our devotionals this week. A "Virgin" pregnant?!?! This kind of thing would happen but NEVER to a "Virgin." Eyebrows were raised, Mary's family, friends and fiance had questions! The stress of this situation is OFF the charts. But, still Joseph LOVES Mary. He was NOT out for justice. He was kind, tender, and merciful. He loved Mary and was not willing to expose her to public shame and humiliation. In today's verse Joseph gets answers; "But while he thought on these things, behold, the Angel ...

heartbreaker

Matthew 1:19 "19 Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a publick example, was minded to put her away privily." This Advent season marvel at Jesus Christ, The Creator of the Universe becoming a flesh and blood person. A human being, born of His Mother JUST LIKE every other human being. UNLIKE us though His Father was not another human being!?!? His human father had to come to grips with this and will be the focus of our devotionals this week. Surprise, surprise; a "Virgin" is pregnant. This kind of thing would happen but NEVER to a "Virgin." Eyebrows were raised, Mary's family, friends and fiance had questions! Some questions we KNOW the answer to. Any talk to the contrary will just sound like LIES. The stress of this situation is OFF the charts. But, still Joseph LOVES Mary. Today's verse; "Then Joseph her husband, being a JUST MAN, and not willing to make her a publick example, was minded to put her away privi...

got questions???

Matthew 1:18 "Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as His mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost." Our Advent journey is almost over. We have focused on John the Baptizer and naturally the subject of his preaching and prophecy; Jesus. We will continue our spiritual journey into the new year; we will read and study the Holy Scriptures so we can better understand the events recorded. We will open our hearts and make room in our daily lives for our Lord and Savior. The GREAT LIGHT perpetually coming into the world chasing away the dark days and ultimately securing victory for all of creation! Until then we will marvel at the Advent of Jesus Christ! The Creator of the Universe becoming a flesh and blood person. A human being, born of His Mother JUST LIKE every other human being. UNLIKE us though His Father was not another human being!?!? His human father had to come to grips with this and will be t...

Great Light

Isaiah 9:2 "The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light: they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined." Our Advent journey has almost run it's course. We have focused on John the Baptizer and naturally the subject of his preaching and prophecy; Jesus. Both of whom delivered messages of REPENTANCE. Both of whom were the embodiment of prophecy fulfilled.  As we complete our Advent journey and continue our spiritual journey into the new year; we need to read and study the Holy Scriptures so we can better understand the events recorded there and their meaning for our lives. We can open our hearts and make room in our daily lives for our Lord and Savior.  As today's verse points out; we are people who live in darkness. We see it all around us in our world. These are indeed dark days. They always have been. Our world is perpetually coming to an end. BUT! The light is coming into the world, perpetually too. A light has da...

this is Elijah

Matthew 11:13-15 "13 For all the prophets and the law prophesied until John. 14 And if ye will receive it, this is Elias, which was for to come. 15 He that hath ears to hear, let him hear." Jesus is teaching His audience about His cousin, the GREATEST prophet, John the Baptizer. Jesus elevated John above the MOST distinguished of the prophets. Through John's work Jesus made public His claim to the Messianic prophecy from the Old Testament. Jesus does point out that John is the GREATEST but the people that will proclaim the Gospel will be GREATER STILL!!! And, at this time the people were crowding around Jesus and John to such a great extent it was like a army surrounding and besieging a city state. In today's verses Jesus wraps up His teaching; "For all the prophets and the law prophesied until John." The "law" here means the five books of Moses; and the prophets, are the remaining books of the Old Testament. "And if ye will receive it, this i...

greater still

Matthew 11:11&12 "11 Verily I say unto you, Among them that are born of women there hath not risen a greater than John the Baptist: notwithstanding he that is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he. 12 And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force." Jesus is teaching His audience about His cousin, the GREATEST prophet, John the Baptizer. John's message was NOT swayed by popular feeling. John was the opposite of the religious leaders. Because of this people flocked to him. Jesus elevated John above the MOST distinguished of the prophets. He announced Jesus's coming, introducing Him to the nation of Israel. Through John's work Jesus made public His claim to the Messianic prophecy from the Old Testament. If "META" is showing awareness of reference to oneself or to the activity that is taking place, this was META way before META was cool. (Or even a word.) In today...

more than META

Matthew 11:9&10 "9 But what went ye out for to see? A prophet? yea, I say unto you, and more than a prophet. 10 For this is he, of whom it is written, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee." After representatives from John the Baptizer questioned Jesus about being the Messiah, Jesus turns to His audience to teach them about His cousin the GREATEST prophet. Jesus pointed out that John's message was NOT swayed by popular feeling? And, Jesus noted the black and white contrast between the Baptizer and the religious leaders of the day. The Sadducees and Pharisees wore fine linen in a decorative way and their character was flawed. John was coarsely dressed, hardy in his character, and his virtue is firm.  In today's verses Jesus asks the people; "But what went ye out for to see? A prophet? yea, I say unto you, and MORE THAN a prophet." Don't underestimate this turn of phrase by Jesus. Jesus is elevating above ...

soft raiment?

Matthew 11:7&8 "7 And as they departed, Jesus began to say unto the multitudes concerning John, What went ye out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken with the wind? 8 But what went ye out for to see? A man clothed in soft raiment? behold, they that wear soft clothing are in kings' houses." John the Baptist is the GREATEST prophet.  From prison he sent two of his people to Jesus to ask Him if He was the Messiah? Jesus's answer was to reference prophecies! Tenderly and patiently our Lord and Savior's give John a beatitude; "And blessed is he, whosoever shall not be offended in Me." Blessed is he who does not find a stumbling-block in the how Christ actually came to save the world. Don't second guess how GOD'S plan unfolds. As this Advent season unfolds we all have the time to make room in our hearts for Jesus. We all can come to terms with how GOD interacts with us; by the Holy Ghost and through His Son. There are many reasons for a person...

FAITH in Him

Matthew 11:6 "And blessed is he, whosoever shall not be offended in Me." John the Baptist is the GREATEST prophet.  He was SO BOLD and SO BRASH that he ended up in prison. While there he may have had some doubts. John sent two of his people to Jesus to ask Him if He was the Messiah? Jesus's answer was to remind John of the things He has done that were fulfilment of prophecies! John needs to also remember Jesus's apostles; they were poor, they were mainly fishermen; they were unlearned men, they had no formal learning, and were contemptible, in the sight of men like the Sadducees and Pharisees. In fact they were despised, and reckoned as cursed by them. Like John they are in stark contrast to the religious leaders of the day. Jesus has to know that John is suffering in prison. The message he sent via his followers was impatient, at best. Today's verse is a very tender and patient reply from our Lord and Savior; "And blessed is he, whosoever shall not be offend...

the poor

Matthew 11:4&5 "4 Jesus answered and said unto them, Go and shew John again those things which ye do hear and see: 5 The blind receive their sight, and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have the gospel preached to them." John the Baptist is the GREATEST prophet.  He was BOLD and BRASH when dealing with the Sadducees and Pharisees. And, with King Herod, which landed him in prison. It was while he was in prison that he may have had some doubts. John sent two of his people to Jesus to ask Him if He was the Messiah??? From our perspective it doesn't make sense. This was the one thing John was the most sure of. Was prison messing with his mind? Is he trying to spark some response from Jesus that will help his situation? In today's verses we read Jesus's answer; "Go and shew John again those things which ye do hear and see: The blind receive their sight, and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, an...

bold and brash

Matthew 11:2&3 "2 Now when John had heard in the prison the works of Christ, he sent two of his disciples, 3 And said unto him, Art thou he that should come, or do we look for another?" Jesus said that John the Baptist is the GREATEST prophet. And, there are more than a few prophets. As we studied over the last week; John stood up to the Sadducees and Pharisees. He severely criticizes them. Giving them a message filled with fire and brimstone! Telling them they will be consumed in GOD'S judgment by the UNQUENCHABLE FIRE. It's this BOLD and BRASH person that we continue to study this week. We turn a few chapters forward in the Gospel of Matthew to the point when John the Baptizer was being held in prison by the authorities. He had condemned King Herod for divorcing his wife and then marrying Herodias, the divorced wife of Herod Antipas' half-brother Philip.  In today's verses John is sitting in prison hearing reports of Jesus's ministry and having doubt...

unquenchable fire

Matthew 3:12 "Whose fan is in his hand, and he will throughly purge his floor, and gather his wheat into the garner; but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire." The Sadducees and Pharisees that John the Baptizer is addressing were better people than many we face in our modern culture wars. He severely criticizes them. Giving them a message filled with fire and brimstone! Which he concludes in today's densly packed verse; "Whose fan is in his hand, and he will throughly purge his floor, and gather his wheat into the garner; but he will burn up the chaff with UNQUENCHABLE FIRE." Here John is referring to a situation that was common and very familiar in his day; the “threshing-floor.” This is a large hardened surface the sheaves of grain are thrown on it, and oxen tread on them, breaking the grain free from the chaff. Next a person with a large winnowing fan blows on the grain and chaff mixture the full force of the strong current of air. Their goal is t...

axe

Matthew 3:10&11 "10 And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: therefore every tree which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. 11 I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: He shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire:" John the Baptizer is severely criticizes the Sadducees and Pharisees. They came to the banks of the Jordan river, where the Baptizer was preaching and teaching. John has NOT been kind to them, he probably jokingly asks them "you must WANT TO repent." John also cautions them on their assumption of their privileges of birth. It is not by our genealogy that we are saved. GOD does give to us everything we experience. We need to make every step in our lives with gratitude to our GOD. The second that we let our pride guide us or inform us; we are done. We are out of sync with GOD'S plan. It's all GOD...

want to repent?

Matthew 3:8&9 "8 Bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance: 9 And think not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, that God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham." John the Baptizer is reading the riot act to the Sadducees and Pharisees. They have shown up to the banks of the Jordan river, where the Baptizer was preaching and teaching. John held the Nazarite vow and he would have had long shaggy hair, clothes made with camel's hair. His rough appearance would have made a stark contrast to the long garments and gorgeous apparel of the Sadducees and Pharisees.  John has NOT been kind to them and in today's verses he only get harsher; "Bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance:" Our English translations don't capture the meaning of what was said. John's sentiment was more along the lines of since you showed up here you must WANT TO repent.  Then John cautions them on their assum...

prophecy fulfilled

Matthew 3:6&7 "6 And were baptized of him in Jordan, confessing their sins. 7 But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees come to his baptism, he said unto them, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come?" John the Baptizer has been preaching, teaching and baptizing on the banks of the Jordan river. This is the border between the civilized world and the wilderness. He is preparing the way for the Lord and Savior to go public with His ministry. People were coming from all over to hear John's lessons. He was drawing attention to himself and his message! In today's verse we get an idea of what that might have been; "And were baptized of him in Jordan, CONFESSING their sins." The original Greek text implies an continual succession. A long line of people getting baptized. They are confessing their sins and having them washed away. We believe the Baptizer held the Nazarite vow and he would have had long shaggy hair, clo...

announcer

Matthew 3:3-5 "3 For this is he that was spoken of by the prophet Esaias, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight. 4 And the same John had his raiment of camel's hair, and a leathern girdle about his loins; and his meat was locusts and wild honey. 5 Then went out to him Jerusalem, and all Judaea, and all the region round about Jordan," We are in the Gospel of Matthew, where the cousin of Jesus is proclaiming the arrival of the Messiah! On the banks of the river Jordan where he was preaching, teaching and baptizing. This is the border between the civilized world and the wilderness. Where he delivered the message from GOD; "Repent ye: for the KINGDOM of HEAVEN is at hand." It is the Son of GOD that is approaching.  "For this is he that was spoken of by the prophet Esaias, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight." "Esa...

heaven is at hand

Matthew 3:1&2 "1 In those days came John the Baptist, preaching in the wilderness of Judaea, 2 And saying, Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand." We are in the Second week of Advent. Jesus reigns over all creation! He has always been along side GOD the Father and the Holy Ghost. Part of the Holy Trinity. And, two thousand years ago Jesus became incarnate through the Virgin birth which we celebrate each and every Christmas! This is when Jesus came to save the world. And, one day Christ will come again in judgment of the living and the dead. All of this is what we remember and celebrate in the season of Advent.  Today we return to the Gospel of Matthew, chapter three, verse one, where the cousin of Jesus is proclaiming the arrival of the Messiah! "In those days came John the Baptist, preaching in the wilderness of Judaea," On the banks of the river Jordan where he was preaching, teaching and baptizing. This is the border between the civilized world and ...

save the world

John 3:17&18 "17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through Him might be saved. 18 He that believeth on Him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God." The King Will Come! Jesus is returning as the ultimate hero! As read in the Psalms yesterday Jesus will reign and all the world will CELEBRATE! "The heavens rejoice!" "The earth be glad!" "The sea roar!" "The field be joyful!" "The trees of the wood rejoice!!!" This is a WIN so incredible that it's celebrations are led by inanimate nature!  All creation will be joining in the anthem of PRAISE!!! Last week we focused on verses from the Gospel of Matthew when Jesus described how two working in the field and, the two women grinding at the mill, from each pair; one was be TAKEN and one was left. We understand this to be Christ's ...

the trees REJOICE!!!

Psalms 96:10-13 "10 Say among the heathen that the LORD reigneth: the world also shall be established that it shall not be moved: He shall judge the people righteously. 11 Let the heavens rejoice, and let the earth be glad; let the sea roar, and the fulness thereof. 12 Let the field be joyful, and all that is therein: then shall all the trees of the wood rejoice 13 Before the LORD: for He cometh, for He cometh to judge the earth: He shall judge the world with righteousness, and the people with His truth." The King Will Come! Jesus is the ultimate hero that saves the day. He defeats the bad guy. It all works out for the good in the end. It's how GOD made reality to work. This is the healing that is needed. We all know it. Everything is messed up by people not following GOD'S plan. We yearn for this healing and hope. The greater reality we were created for; how things were in the Garden of Eden. And, we will experience that when Jesus comes again!!! In the Gospel of Mat...

The King Returns

Matthew 24:43&44 "43 But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up. 44 Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh." Jesus will RETURN. It will be similar to the Great Flood, it will happen suddenly and unexpectedly. Jesus used the example of two working in the field. And, the two women grinding at the mill. In each case one is TAKEN and one is left. We understand this to be Christ's judgment; the separation of the sheep from the goats, the believers from the unbelievers. Jesus warned; "Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come." On the day of Christ's return we will face judgment or mercy. We need to be prepared to meet Him. We need to watch for Him. We need to be READY. Jesus drives home the point in today's verses; "But KNOW THIS, that if the goodman of the ...

be ready

Matthew 24:41&42 "41 Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left. 42 Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come." We don't know when Jesus will RETURN.  Jesus's return will be similar to the Great Flood, it was sudden and unexpected. People were not prepared for it even though they were warned about it. The only ones saved were the few in the ark. Jesus used the example of two working in the field. Our Lord and Savior will suddenly appear to the world. We will be at work and will stop working as we recognize our LORD Is present. This will be the day of judgment to the whole world! Jesus gave another example in today's verses; "Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be TAKEN, and the other left." This was common work, everyone knew about it and most had done it at one point or another. It was very familiar. What is different is one is TAKEN. We understand this to be Christ...

taken

Matthew 24:39&40 "39 And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. 40 Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left." Someday Jesus will RETURN.  When will He return? We GOT to KNOW! But, NO ONE knows. Only GOD the Father Knows. Jesus's return will be similar to the Great Flood, it was sudden and unexpected. People were not prepared for it even though they were warned about it. The only ones saved were the few in the ark. In Noah's day and time; people were NOT concerned about the affairs of religion, the worship and glory of God, the welfare of their souls and their approaching doom! Which Noah had given them ampel warning.  In today's verses we read an example of what will happen when Jesus returns; "Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be TAKEN, and the other left." As believers we should not set our sights on concerns of the world. As we read in toda...
