heartbreaker

Matthew 1:19
"19 Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a publick example, was minded to put her away privily."

This Advent season marvel at Jesus Christ, The Creator of the Universe becoming a flesh and blood person. A human being, born of His Mother JUST LIKE every other human being. UNLIKE us though His Father was not another human being!?!? His human father had to come to grips with this and will be the focus of our devotionals this week.

Surprise, surprise; a "Virgin" is pregnant. This kind of thing would happen but NEVER to a "Virgin." Eyebrows were raised, Mary's family, friends and fiance had questions! Some questions we KNOW the answer to. Any talk to the contrary will just sound like LIES.

The stress of this situation is OFF the charts. But, still Joseph LOVES Mary. Today's verse; "Then Joseph her husband, being a JUST MAN, and not willing to make her a publick example, was minded to put her away privily." Joseph was NOT out for justice. He was kind, tender, and merciful. He loved Mary and was not willing to expose her to public shame and humiliation. He was seeking a quiet way to dissolve the connection, and to restore her to her friends and family WITHOUT the punishment commonly inflicted on those engaging in adultery.

Matthew 6:11 "Give us this day our daily bread." Last week we focused our studies on “Thy Will Be Done...” We can TRUST in the LORD with ALL our hearts. Let GOD lead us in our daily lives. GOD'S will is for you and me to follow His plan. Accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior. Serve Him by helping your friends and neighbors. It's a beautiful way. The rest of this petition is “On Earth as it is in Heaven.” We want God’s kingdom to be established on earth, reflecting the harmony and perfection found in heaven. We can have this in the here and now by prioritizing God’s will, seeking His guidance, and striving to live according to Biblical principles.
