John 1:1-3
"1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2 The same was in the beginning with God.
3 All things were made by Him; and without Him was not any thing made that was made."
We have been reading Dr. Luke's Gospel there we learn some incredible insights on the ADVENT of the Messiah! His arrival into our world to SAVE us from ourselves! Joseph and Mary's experience along with the shepherds out in a field in the middle of NOWHERE in the middle of the night. They became witnesses to the arrival of the Messiah! They told everyone they encountered about the Devine Revelation shared with them!
Luke and the people that shared their stories with him were not the only ones with great insight. Today we return to the Gospel of John were we read words that echo the first words of the Old Testament. It begins the Hebrew voice that John writes in. This was written with Moses and Genesis in mind. "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. ALL THINGS were made by Him; and without Him was not any thing made that was made."
Throughout the Christmas season we see the nativity scene with the baby Jesus in the manger. It's very easy to forget that this baby is the Creator of the Universe! The second person of the Holy Trinity becoming incarnate. It is through God's Son that we begin to understand His gracious plan for our redemption. When we begin to appreciate this; we really begin to understand Christmas.
