Jesus's Story Is NOT OVER!

Luke 24:32-35 "32 And they said one to another, Did not our heart burn within us, while He talked with us by the way, and while He opened to us the scriptures? 33 And they rose up the same hour, and returned to Jerusalem, and found the eleven gathered together, and them that were with them, 34 Saying, The Lord is risen indeed, and hath appeared to Simon. 35 And they told what things were done in the way, and how He was known of them in breaking of bread." The world needs to know! Cleopas and one other unnamed Disciple on the road to Emmaus had a close encounter with the Resurrected Jesus!!! In today's verses they returned to Jerusalem to report these events to the Disciples there!! They are confirming that Jesus is BACK! Most of the time Jesus was with the two in Emmaus they did NOT recognize Him. It wasn't until He blessed and broke the bread they were sharing that they realized this is Jesus.  And, then He disappeared! Before this Jesus taught them another time; abo...

Jesus Is Here!

Luke 24:29-31 "29 But they constrained Him, saying, Abide with us: for it is toward evening, and the day is far spent. And He went in to tarry with them. 30 And it came to pass, as He sat at meat with them, He took bread, and blessed it, and brake, and gave to them. 31 And their eyes were opened, and they knew Him; and He vanished out of their sight." After His resurrection Jesus catches up with Cleopas and one other unnamed Disciple on the road to Emmaus. Jesus has not revealed Himself to them, YET! The Disciples are having trouble understanding what they are experiencing. They are in the middle of the action where it's confusing. We have the luxury and perspective from time, not to mention the benefit from the Holy Bible! Jesus has taught these two so much already; He had taught them prophetic words about His own suffering and death, as well as His sovereignty and triumph. And, here He teaches them yet another lesson about Moses and ALL the PROPHETS, and how ALL the SCR...

Silly and Slow...

Luke 24:25-28 "25 Then He said unto them, O fools, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken: 26 Ought not Christ to have suffered these things, and to enter into His glory? 27 And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, He expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning Himself. 28 And they drew nigh unto the village, whither they went: and He made as though he would have gone further." We are on the road to Emmaus with Cleopas and one other unnamed Disciple. The Resurrected Jesus has joined them BUT He is not revealing Himself to them, YET! Jesus plays "dumb" and gets them to explain and they provide a good summary of what has happened.  In today's verses we read Jesus's response to them; "O FOOL'S, and SLOW of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken: Ought not Christ to have suffered these things, and to enter into His GLORY?" The word for "fools" might be more aptly translated as ...

found NOT, saw NOT

Luke 24:22-24 "22 Yea, and certain women also of our company made us astonished, which were early at the sepulchre; 23 And when they found not His body, they came, saying, that they had also seen a vision of angels, which said that He was alive. 24 And certain of them which were with us went to the sepulchre, and found it even so as the women had said: but Him they saw not." Here in the Gospel of Luke we are on the road to Emmaus with Cleopas and one other unnamed Disciple right after the Resurrection. The Resurrected Jesus has joined them BUT He is not revealing Himself to them, yet! Jesus plays "dumb" and gets them to explain what has happened. Their account of the events says; it's over, it's a done deal, it's time to go home, the party is over! It's understandable that they would be bummed out! In today's verses we read that they have the basic outline of what happened at the empty tomb; "Yea, and certain women also of our company made u...

Dead & Dumb

Luke 24:19-21 "19 And He said unto them, What things? And they said unto Him, Concerning Jesus of Nazareth, which was a prophet mighty in deed and word before God and all the people: 20 And how the chief priests and our rulers delivered Him to be condemned to death, and have crucified Him. 21 But we trusted that it had been He which should have redeemed Israel: and beside all this, to day is the third day since these things were done." We are studying in the Gospel of Luke, the Disciples along with the other Jesus followers are going their separate ways, trying to NOT draw the attention of the Roman authorities after the Crucifixion of Jesus. Two of them headed to the little town of Emmaus, deep in conversation when the "total stranger" walks up and joins them. They don't recognize that it's Jesus. They should be able to but don't, Jesus is not revealing Himself.  Jesus plays "dumb" and gets them to explain what has happened in today's vers...

Not Known

Luke 24:16-18 16 But their eyes were holden that they should not know Him. 17 And He said unto them, What manner of communications are these that ye have one to another, as ye walk, and are sad? 18 And the one of them, whose name was Cleopas, answering said unto Him, Art thou only a stranger in Jerusalem, and hast not known the things which are come to pass there in these days?" We are studying an event that happened after the Resurrection. We turn to the Gospel of Luke, the Disciples along with the other Jesus followers are going their separate ways, trying to NOT draw the attention of the Roman authorities. Two of them headed to the little town of Emmaus, probably heading home. Like anyone who just lived through incredible events it's all they can talk about. They are still trying to making sense of all they had seen. Deep in conversation when the "total stranger" walks up and joins them. This is no stranger it's Jesus! They don't recognize Him. They should...

Emmaus Road Journey

Luke 24:13-15 13 And, behold, two of them went that same day to a village called Emmaus, which was from Jerusalem about threescore furlongs. 14 And they talked together of all these things which had happened. 15 And it came to pass, that, while they communed together and reasoned, Jesus Himself drew near, and went with them." Yesterday we finished Matthew's Gospel with our Lord and Savior promising to be with us forever and ever. With what He has given us we will always be indebted to Him, "even unto the end of the world. Amen." And, that is one of the incredible things; events don't end with Jesus's Resurrection! His story continues everyday all over the world! 🌎  Christ is RISEN! He is RISEN INDEED!  Hallelujah!! This week we are going to study events that happened after the Resurrection and before the mountain top experience in the last couple of verses in the Gospel of Matthew. We turn to the Gospel of Luke, chapter twenty-four, verse thirteen. This is r...

I AM with you

Matthew 28:18-20 "18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto Me in heaven and in earth. 19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: 20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen." This is the grand finale of Matthew's Gospel! The Disciples have faithfully followed Jesus's instructions. They have given Him PRAISE! HONOR! and GLORY! Some of the Disciples are utterly astonished; astounded! They were not sure how to react. And, you and I may not know how to act when we are in the presence of GOD! And, we do have to. We can remember Jesus's directions. In today's verses we read that He is given all authority. Jesus gives direct instructions to follow; "GO." "TEACH." "BAPTISE." It's as simple as that. We read and study the Holy Bible s...

in the presence of GOD

Matthew 28:16 & 17 "16 Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, into a mountain where Jesus had appointed them. 17 And when they saw Him, they worshipped Him: but some doubted." Matthew is wrapping up his Gospel in the next few verses. Coming from the empty tomb the two Marys discovered to the bribery plot between the high priest and the Roman soldiers to now, the Disciples reunion with our Lord and Savior! The Disciples have faithfully followed Jesus's instructions; "Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, into a mountain where Jesus had appointed them. And when they saw Him, they WORSHIPPED Him: but some DOUBTED." Okay, this makes sense, "they WORSHIPPED Him:" PRAISE! HONOR! GLORY! Are all His! How could they not? They are eyewitnesses to the RESURRECTION! THEN... "but some DOUBTED." ??? This end of the verse has troubled me for a few years.  How could they DOUBT??? It's a little shocking and even disturbing. Matt...

tangled deception

Matthew 28:13-15 "13 Saying, Say ye, His disciples came by night, and stole Him away while we slept. 14 And if this come to the governor's ears, we will persuade him, and secure you. 15 So they took the money, and did as they were taught: and this saying is commonly reported among the Jews until this day." Here's the BRIBE! The Roman soldiers who were guarding the tomb of Jesus turned in their full report to the chief priests. The chief priests paid them "LARGE MONEY" to LIE and tell the story in today's verses. This is a diabolical and evil act. Never underestimate people's treacherous ability. "Oh what a tangled web we weave When first we practice to deceive," - Scottish author, Sir Walter Scott The chief priest's deception would not fool anyone who didn't want to be fooled. The Roman soldiers would have laughed as they took the BRIBE. The priest knew it was their own LIE and that no one stole the body from the tomb. Pontius Pilat...

the cover-up

Matthew 28:11 & 12 "11 Now when they were going, behold, some of the watch came into the city, and shewed unto the chief priests all the things that were done. 12 And when they were assembled with the elders, and had taken counsel, they gave large money unto the soldiers," We have studied how God does things differently.  The two Marys are blessed with seeing our Lord and Savior in person! Christ is RISEN! He is RISEN INDEED! Hallelujah!! In today's verses, we begin to study how people do things. The Roman soldiers who were guarding the tomb turn in their full report; "Now when they were going, behold, some of the watch came into the city, and shewed unto the chief priests ALL the things that WERE DONE. And when they were assembled with the elders, and had taken counsel, they GAVE LARGE MONEY unto the soldiers," Here's the BRIBE! To get the Romans to aid and abet in the cover-up of what really happened the Chief Priests paid them "LARGE MONEY."...

see and touch

Matthew 28:9 & 10 "9 And as they went to tell His disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, All hail. And they came and held Him by the feet, and worshipped Him. 10 Then said Jesus unto them, Be not afraid: go tell My brethren that they go into Galilee, and there shall they see Me." God does things differently.  Not the way we would.  This is not what was expected. There is a sense of urgency recorded here.  The two Marys went to the grave of their friend and teacher who they witnessed tortured and abused, killed and buried. Instead of the body they met the Angel who gave them the Good News and instructions; "GO quickly, and tell His disciples that He is RISEN from the dead; and, behold, He goeth before you into Galilee; there shall ye see Him!" In today's verses the two Marys are blessed with seeing our Lord and Savior in person; "And as they went to tell His disciples, behold, JESUS met them, saying, All hail. And they came and HELD Him by the FEET, ...

Running with FEAR and great JOY!

Matthew 28:7 & 8 "7 And go quickly, and tell His disciples that He is risen from the dead; and, behold, He goeth before you into Galilee; there shall ye see Him: lo, I have told you. 8 And they departed quickly from the sepulchre with fear and great joy; and did run to bring His disciples word." Christ is RISEN! He is RISEN INDEED! Hallelujah!! The word "Gospel" means "Good News." And, it's news so good that it is still news worthy two-thousand years after the fact! We need to read them as breaking news reports. The Disciples are recording the events they witnessed the best they can. They were in the midst of the action and experienced these unique situations. Even after the fact they had to of been asking themselves; did THAT really just happen??? Yesterday's verses recount the events of the FIRST EASTER morning. The two Marys showed up and the Angel of the LORD'S arrival was so terrifying in appearance that the Roman soldiers guarding the...

He is NOT HERE.

Matthew 28:1-6 "1 In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre. 2 And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it. 3 His countenance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow: 4 And for fear of him the keepers did shake, and became as dead men. 5 And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified. 6 He is not here: for He is risen, as He said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay." Christ is RISEN! He is RISEN INDEED! Hallelujah!! We have grown accustomed to reading the Gospel events. We need to read them as breaking news reports. The Disciples are recording the events they witnessed the best they can. They were in the midst of the action and experienced these unique situations. Even after the fact they ...

Everyother Day Too

Isaiah 53 1 Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the LORD revealed? 2 For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him. 3 He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not. 4 Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. 5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. 6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all. 7 He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before he...

The LAMB of GOD

John 1:29-34 "29 The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world. 30 This is He of whom I said, After me cometh a man which is preferred before me: for He was before me. 31 And I knew Him not: but that He should be made manifest to Israel, therefore am I come baptizing with water. 32 And John bare record, saying, I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it abode upon Him. 33 And I knew Him not: but He that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on Him, the same is He which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost. 34 And I saw, and bare record that this is the Son of God." We just studied Peter's denial. Will the people we interact with say; "THIS IS ONE OF THEM." About us? A Christian, like they did to Peter? This denial might have been his lowest moment. He did realized his sin. He was regretful. He repented...

He Wept...

Mark 14:70-72 "70 And he denied it again. And a little after, they that stood by said again to Peter, Surely thou art one of them: for thou art a Galilaean, and thy speech agreeth thereto. 71 But he began to curse and to swear, saying, I know not this man of whom ye speak. 72 And the second time the cock crew. And Peter called to mind the word that Jesus said unto him, Before the cock crow twice, thou shalt deny Me thrice. And when he thought thereon, he wept." Ask yourself; the people that see you and interact with you, would they say "THIS IS ONE OF THEM." Would they point the finger at you for being a Christian??? As bad as Peter's denial is, at least he did live and act in such a way that people associated him with our Lord and Savior. While Jesus knew this would happen it is a total surprise to Peter. He thought he was better than this.  "...HE WEPT."   Does this moment make Peter a failure? No. This just revealed that he was just another person c...

"THIS IS ONE OF THEM!"

Mark 14:66-69 "66 And as Peter was beneath in the palace, there cometh one of the maids of the high priest: 67 And when she saw Peter warming himself, she looked upon him, and said, And thou also wast with Jesus of Nazareth. 68 But he denied, saying, I know not, neither understand I what thou sayest. And he went out into the porch; and the cock crew. 69 And a maid saw him again, and began to say to them that stood by, This is one of them." We are studying Peter's denial. That moment he betrayed Jesus. Peter, the rock! Peter who boldly speaks his mind. Peter who leaves the safety of the boat to walk on water. Peter who claims he will NEVER let Jesus down! This is a stressful time for everyone. Jesus was betrayed by one of His followers, Judas. And, next Jesus is being tried by the Jewish leaders. And, His Disciple Peter is out in the cold night... "And as Peter was beneath in the palace, there cometh one of the maids of the high priest: And when she saw Peter warming ...

TWICE & THRICE

Mark 14:30 & 31 "30 And Jesus saith unto him, Verily I say unto thee, That this day, even in this night, before the cock crow twice, thou shalt deny Me thrice. 31 But he spake the more vehemently, If I should die with Thee, I will not deny Thee in any wise. Likewise also said they all." We are not going to be able to maintain the high standard Jesus has for us. What do we do WHEN we fail??? We should always turn to the Holy Scriptures. It is filled with cautionary examples. Failure. Betrayal. Double Cross. We do them ALL too easily. We compromise our morals. We hurt the ones closest to us the most. We are studying Peter's denial. That moment he betrayed Jesus. Peter, the rock! Peter who boldly speaks his mind. Peter who leaves the safety of the boat to walk on water. Peter who claims he will NEVER let Jesus down! This is as Jesus is telling His Disciples about the things that are about to happen. They have just finished the Lsst Supper and are heading to the Garden of...

WHEN we fail...

Mark 14:26-29 "26 And when they had sung an hymn, they went out into the mount of Olives. 27 And Jesus saith unto them, All ye shall be offended because of Me this night: for it is written, I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered. 28 But after that I am risen, I will go before you into Galilee. 29 But Peter said unto him, Although all shall be offended, yet will not I." We have studied some of the challenging teaching of our Lord and Savior; turning the other cheek, going the extra mile, and more! Spoiler alert ⚠️... we are going to let Jesus down. We are not going to be able to maintain the high standard He has for us. What do we do WHEN we fail??? We should always turn to the Holy Scriptures. There we will find more than a few failures; Cain was the first to Double Cross his brother. Abraham gave up his wife to save himself. King David took his soldiers wife as his own. Jacob dressed like his brother to steal the birthright. Joseph's brothers sold hi...

The Jesus Challenge!

Matthew 5:42 "Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away." Here in the Gospel of Matthew Jesus's teaching is VERY CHALLENGING! From turn the other cheek where Jesus tells us to offer yourself for more of what you just got! Jesus adds on to this lesson with; if they take your jacket, give them the shirt off your back too! And, if someone can compel you to carry their load for one mile; go an extra mile, too! Today's verse continues the theme saying; don't turn away people looking to borrow from you or needing your help. All of these teachings rub the selfish sinners (you and me) the wrong way. This is a radical idea that you are not obligated to take revenge. We don't want to use the Holy Scriptures to take advantage of a situation. Christianity is not about getting advantage over another. It is about sacrifice to another. If we can grow in our understanding that as Christians our concern is not toward the things of ...

go the extra mile

Matthew 5:40 & 41 "40 And if any man will sue thee at the law, and take away thy coat, let him have thy cloak also. 41 And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain." We have returned to the Gospel of Matthew for some more CHALLENGING teaching from Jesus. HIS standard is higher than equity and ballace. It's beyond what's fair. It's shocking; "...whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other ALSO." The old way was to respond in kind, with as good as you got. Jesus's way is to offer up yourself for more of what you just got! It's very disturbing to us. Who can do this?  In case we are missing His point, Jesus continues to make His point in today's verses; "And if any man will sue thee at the law, and take away thy coat, let him have thy cloak ALSO." If they take your jacket, give them the shirt off your back too! And, check out; "And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with hi...

A Higher Standard

Matthew 5:39 "But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also." As our Lenten season comes to an end we want to Lift High the Cross. We have returned to the Gospel of Matthew for some more challenging teaching from Jesus. He opened with the standard that the world is familiar with; "Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth:" This is a high standard for justice from the book of Exodus, chapter twenty-one, verse twenty-four. This implies equity and ballace. It's not revenge or payback, it's what's fair. This is NOT what Jesus has in mind! In today's verse it gets very interesting; "BUT I say unto you, That ye resist NOT evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other ALSO." These words, this idea needs to shock us. We have a defensive reaction; we read all kinds of meaning into God's words. Peop...

Blind & Toothless

Matthew 5:38 "Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth:" We are almost through the Lent season. We have learned some awesome lessons about our Lord and Savior. His mission and ministry has us lifting high the cross to this very day. Our FAITH is given to us by the Holy Ghost. We NOW have GOD with us in our innermost lives and we get to call Him; "Father." We "are all the children of God BY FAITH in Christ Jesus!"  Today we return to the Gospel of Matthew for some more challenging teaching from Jesus. In today's verse we get the standard that the world is familiar with; "Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth:" This is a high standard for justice from the book of Exodus, chapter twenty-one, verse twenty-four. This implies equity and ballace. It's not revenge or payback, it's what's fare. This wording has a barbaric ring in our ears we are used to seei...

HEIRS

Galatians 3:29 "And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise." BOOM!!! This is IT! This goes beyond encouragement; the Apostle Paul is telling the Galatians THEY are the Chosen People of God! Heirs!! Because they have been given FAITH by the Holy Ghost because of the work of Jesus! We NOW have GOD with us in our innermost lives and we get to call Him; "Father." We "are all the children of God BY FAITH in Christ Jesus!"  "There is NEITHER Jew nor Greek, there is NEITHER bond nor free, there is NEITHER male nor female: for ye are all ONE in Christ Jesus." Our world today is looking for this Messiah! People are coming up with wild theories, pitting one person against the next, makings up new terms and digging up old wicked ways. All out of some desperate attempt to find relevance and meaning when it's all here. Right at their fingertips, hidden in the pages of the Holy Bible; we are all ONE in Chr...

Neither One

Galatians 3:28 "28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus." We are given the gift of FAITH by our Lord and Savior. The word FAITH did NOT exist BEFORE Jesus Christ's incarnation! It's a compelling case and futher demonstrates YET another way that the Son of God changed the world forever! FAITH is not just believing in something, FAITH is believing in JESUS CHRIST! In these verses the Apostle Paul is writing to encourage the church in Galatia. He is telling them that essential message we studied last week; we have communion with GOD through His Son and by The Holy Ghost! We no longer needs signs and wonders from without because we NOW have GOD with us in our innermost lives and we get to call Him; "Father." We "are all the children of God BY FAITH in Christ Jesus!"  Our baptism makes us all one family. We are clothed in Jesus Christ. Equally loved and equal...

By Faith...

Galatians 3:26 & 27 "26 For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. 27 For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ." This season leading up to Easter we are studying the cross and it's profound effect on our world. The last few days we have focused on Jesus's promise to send The Holy Ghost! Along the way I brought up the new book from Rev. Dr. Alvin J. Schmidt titled; "Faith Misused: Why Christianity Is Not Just Another Religion." This book makes the case that the word FAITH did NOT exist BEFORE Jesus Christ's incarnation! It's a compelling case and futher demonstrates YET another way that the Son of God changed the world forever! There is no record of FAITH in false gods or anything else prior to Jesus Christ! As we read today's verse hold in your heart and mind how unique and revolutionary this word and concept is... "For ye are all the children of God BY FAITH in Christ Jesus. For as many o...

You Might Believe

John 14:25-29 "25 These things have I spoken unto you, being yet present with you. 26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, Whom the Father will send in My name, He shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. 27 Peace I leave with you, My peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. 28 Ye have heard how I said unto you, I go away, and come again unto you. If ye loved Me, ye would rejoice, because I said, I go unto the Father: for My Father is greater than I. 29 And now I have told you before it come to pass, that, when it is come to pass, ye might believe." Some of Jesus's FINAL words to His Disciples. In them the wonderful promise to send His Spirit, The Comforter, The Holy Ghost! For His Disciples and for His believers there will be tough times ahead. They will and we will need to "KEEP MY WORDS." as Jesus said. Hold on...

Keep My Words

John 14:21-24 "21 He that hath My commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth Me: and he that loveth Me shall be loved of My Father, and I will love him, and will manifest Myself to him. 22 Judas saith unto Him, not Iscariot, Lord, how is it that Thou wilt manifest Thyself unto us, and not unto the world? 23 Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love Me, he will keep My words: and My Father will love him, and We will come unto him, and make Our abode with him. 24 He that loveth Me not keepeth not My sayings: and the word which ye hear is not Mine, but the Father's which sent Me." We are in the Gospel of John right before Jesus is crucified. Jesus is offering His Disciples comfort and strength with the promise to send His Spirit, The Comforter, The Holy Ghost! The Holy Trinity is focused on Their believers!  Jesus also recognized that much of the world refuses to believe and they will not experience FAITH given by GOD through the Holy Ghost. It's fascinat...

His Spirit, The Comforter; The Holy Ghost!

John 14:16-20 "16 And I will pray the Father, and He shall give you another Comforter, that He may abide with you for ever; 17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth Him not, neither knoweth Him: but ye know Him; for He dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. 18 I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you. 19 Yet a little while, and the world seeth Me no more; but ye see Me: because I live, ye shall live also. 20 At that day ye shall know that I am in My Father, and ye in Me, and I in you." We are reading the Gospel of John where Jesus is consulting with His Disciples right before His journey through the Garden of Gethsemane and on to the cross and the grave. Jesus is offering them comfort and strength. The Disciples loved Jesus. Like the Disciples, if we love God we will know His commandments. Part of keeping the commandments is to love your neighbor as yourself. We mess this up on a daily basis. Still, God forgives us out of His b...
