"THIS IS ONE OF THEM!"

Mark 14:66-69
"66 And as Peter was beneath in the palace, there cometh one of the maids of the high priest:
67 And when she saw Peter warming himself, she looked upon him, and said, And thou also wast with Jesus of Nazareth.
68 But he denied, saying, I know not, neither understand I what thou sayest. And he went out into the porch; and the cock crew.
69 And a maid saw him again, and began to say to them that stood by, This is one of them."

We are studying Peter's denial. That moment he betrayed Jesus. Peter, the rock! Peter who boldly speaks his mind. Peter who leaves the safety of the boat to walk on water. Peter who claims he will NEVER let Jesus down! This is a stressful time for everyone. Jesus was betrayed by one of His followers, Judas. And, next Jesus is being tried by the Jewish leaders. And, His Disciple Peter is out in the cold night...

"And as Peter was beneath in the palace, there cometh one of the maids of the high priest: And when she saw Peter warming himself, she looked upon him, and said, And THOU also WAST WITH Jesus of Nazareth. But he denied, saying, I know not, neither understand I what thou sayest. And he went out into the porch; and the cock crew. And a maid saw him again, and began to say to them that stood by, THIS IS ONE OF THEM." Peter has to fear for his life. The unknown of what is happening during this night has wrecked his thinking and nerves. Peter mere hours before VEHEMENTLY proclaimed his fidelity to our Lord and Savior. Now, in this moment; he DENIES he even knows Jesus!!! It's a horrible moment. And, it's an all TOO human situation.

Luke 1:51-53 "51 He hath shewed strength with His arm; He hath scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts. 52 He hath put down the mighty from their seats, and exalted them of low degree. 53 He hath filled the hungry with good things; and the rich he hath sent empty away." This is Mary's Magnificat. Beginning with verse forty-six Mary's responds to Elizabeth’s blessing is EPIC! In this poem Mary praises GOD for His blessing to her and His faithfulness to Israel.  Mary's Magnificat also highlights a series of reversals in which the proud are humbled and the humble are exalted! Which we read in today's verses; "He hath shewed STRENGTH with His arm; He hath scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts.
