Luke 24:29-31
"29 But they constrained Him, saying, Abide with us: for it is toward evening, and the day is far spent. And He went in to tarry with them.
30 And it came to pass, as He sat at meat with them, He took bread, and blessed it, and brake, and gave to them.
31 And their eyes were opened, and they knew Him; and He vanished out of their sight."
After His resurrection Jesus catches up with Cleopas and one other unnamed Disciple on the road to Emmaus. Jesus has not revealed Himself to them, YET! The Disciples are having trouble understanding what they are experiencing. They are in the middle of the action where it's confusing. We have the luxury and perspective from time, not to mention the benefit from the Holy Bible!
Jesus has taught these two so much already; He had taught them prophetic words about His own suffering and death, as well as His sovereignty and triumph. And, here He teaches them yet another lesson about Moses and ALL the PROPHETS, and how ALL the SCRIPTURES teach about Him.
This "Stranger" was going to continue on His journey... "But they constrained Him, saying, Abide with us: for it is toward evening, and the day is far spent. And He went in to tarry with them. And it came to pass, as He sat at meat with them, He TOOK BREAD, and BLESSED it, and BRAKE, and gave to them. And their eyes were OPENED, and they KNEW Him; and He vanished out of their sight." It sounds like the act of Jesus breaking and blessing of the bread allowed Cleopas and friend to recognize our Lord and Savior! Maybe His mannerisms or the way He spoke? Somehow they suddenly recognized Jesus was here with them!
And, He vanished!
