Luke 24:16-18
16 But their eyes were holden that they should not know Him.
17 And He said unto them, What manner of communications are these that ye have one to another, as ye walk, and are sad?
18 And the one of them, whose name was Cleopas, answering said unto Him, Art thou only a stranger in Jerusalem, and hast not known the things which are come to pass there in these days?"
We are studying an event that happened after the Resurrection. We turn to the Gospel of Luke, the Disciples along with the other Jesus followers are going their separate ways, trying to NOT draw the attention of the Roman authorities. Two of them headed to the little town of Emmaus, probably heading home. Like anyone who just lived through incredible events it's all they can talk about. They are still trying to making sense of all they had seen. Deep in conversation when the "total stranger" walks up and joins them. This is no stranger it's Jesus! They don't recognize Him. They should be able to but don't, Jesus is not revealing Himself.
Today's verses; "But their eyes were holden that they should not know Him. And He said unto them, What manner of communications are these that ye have one to another, as ye walk, and are SAD? And the one of them, whose name was Cleopas, answering said unto Him, Art thou only a stranger in Jerusalem, and hast NOT KNOWN the things which are come to pass there in these days?" It's unbelievable that anyone missed the BIG news of Jesus's Resurrection! And, it's also remarkable that the Resurrected Jesus is visiting two, seemingly unknown followers on some dusty back road outside of some small town, just to teach another lesson. Miracles never cease...
