lead us not

"And lead us not into temptation. But deliver us from evil." The Sixth and Seventh Petition from The Lord's Prayer. This the prayer given when one of the Disciples asked our Lord and Savior to teach them how to pray. It is recorded in two of the four Gospels: Matthew (6:9-13) and Luke (11:2-4.) This is The Prayer we need to pray the most frequently. It is the perfect prayer.  Explanations from the Small Catechism follows;  The Sixth Petition And lead us not into temptation. What does this mean? God tempts no one. We pray in this petition that God would guard and keep us so that the devil, the world, and our sinful nature may not deceive us or mislead us into false belief, despair, and other great shame and vice. Although we are attacked by these things, we pray that we may finally overcome them and win the victory. The Seventh Petition But deliver us from evil. What does this mean? We pray in this petition, in summary, that our Father in heaven would rescue us from every ...

GOD will HELP us!

Matthew 4:10 & 11 "10 Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and Him only shalt thou serve. 11 Then the devil leaveth Him, and, behold, angels came and ministered unto Him." The Devil will create TEMPTATIONS for us because he expects us to FAIL. The Devil is trying to MAKE us FALL. Like he TRIED to make Jesus FALL! When Jesus was tired and hungry Satan approached Him, wanting to take advantage of Jesus's weakened state, but Jesus demonstrates that we need to cherish the Holy Scriptures, when we are faced with TEMPTATION we can answer and overcome the situation with Holy Scriptures! When the Devil quoted Holy Scripture trying to twist it and trip Jesus up. Jesus quotes Deuteronomy 6:16. Fully relying on God, knowing the Holy Scriptures. When that didn't work Satan pulled out all the stops saying he will give Jesus the whole world "if thou wilt fall down and worship ME." Like all of the Dev...

LIES!!!

Matthew 4:8 & 9 "8 Again, the devil taketh Him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth Him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them; 9 And saith unto Him, All these things will I give Thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me." GOD will TEST us!  God will give us the opportunity to prove our strength and character. God will give us a test with the expectation that we will PASS the test. And, the Devil will create TEMPTATIONS for us because he expects us to FAIL. The Devil is trying to MAKE us FALL. Like he TRIED to make Jesus FALL! When Jesus was tired and hungry Satan approached Him, wanting to take advantage of Jesus's weakened state, but Jesus shows us the correct response, quoting Deuteronomy 8:3! Jesus demonstrates that we need to cherish the Holy Scriptures, they are the words of GOD! We need them to know when we are faced with TEMPTATION and how we can answer and overcome the situation and NOT FALL! Then the Devil quotes Holy Scripture try...

we do NOT test God!

Matthew 4:5-7 "5 Then the devil taketh Him up into the holy city, and setteth Him on a pinnacle of the temple, 6 And saith unto Him, If thou be the Son of God, cast Thyself down: for it is written, He shall give His angels charge concerning Thee: and in their hands they shall bear Thee up, lest at any time Thou dash Thy foot against a stone. 7 Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God." Jesus had to of shared these events with His Disciples to teach them how to deal with TEMPTATION. And, the Disciples share it with us to teach us! Part of the situation we are in is to understand that GOD will lead us into the "wilderness." GOD will TEST us! Fi...

what's the BIG deal???

Matthew 4:3 & 4 "3 And when the tempter came to Him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread. 4 But He answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God." This week we are studying NOT FALLING into TEMPTATION. We are attracted to TEMPTATION like a moth to a flame. How can we resist TEMPTATION?? We live in a time when people put all kinds of things ahead of GOD. Some even put EVERYTHING ahead of God!? We have turned to the Gospel of Matthew, right after high point of Jesus's Baptism. Jesus is guided by the Holy Ghost to the wilderness where He fasted for forty days and forty nights.   Jesus had to of shared these events with His Disciples to teach them how to deal with TEMPTATION. And, the Disciples share it with us to teach us! Part of the situation we are in is to understand that GOD will lead us into the "wilderness." GOD will TEST us! God will ...

HIGH point and then TEMPTATIONS

Matthew 4:1 & 2 "1 Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil. 2 And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungred." We are continuing our series about the Seasons of Life titled; Flavors of Fall. This week we are studying NOT FALLING into TEMPTATION. Every time the subject of TEMPTATION comes up I remember the quote from the Irish poet and playwright Oscar Wilde: “I can resist anything except temptation.” Poets and regular people are NOT good at resisting TEMPTATION. As the quote points out, we can't resist temptation. Some might even say we are reckless and seek out temptation! We are attracted to TEMPTATION like a moth to a flame.  We live in a time when people put all kinds of things ahead of GOD. Some even put EVERYTHING ahead of God!? Resisting this influence from our culture is a huge challenge for us. How can we resist TEMPTATION?? Yesterday we read that GOD is NOT going to give us more than...

How will we do it???

1 Corinthians 10:12-14 12 Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall. 13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it. 14 Wherefore, my dearly beloved, flee from idolatry. We are continuing our FALL sermon series about the Seasons of Life titled; Flavors of Fall. This week we will study NOT FALLING into TEMPTATION. Of course we think of temptation as the urge to do something we shouldn't do. We know that temptation will drag us down. And, temptation will separate us from God. We know to go to Jesus to return to God. Jesus has God on His side and will resist temptation.  Even when we fail. Today's verse are here to tell us that GOD is NOT going to give us more than we can handle; First Corinthians, chapter ten, verse twelve through fourteen; "Wherefore let him tha...

pure heart, good conscience, and faith unfeigned

1 Timothy 1:5 "Now the end of the commandment is CHARITY out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned:" CHARITY is GOD'S LOVE. "And now ABIDETH faith, hope, charity, these three; but the GREATEST of these is CHARITY." From yesterday's verse and the study of First Corinthians chapter thirteen. We learned that all too often we cause pain and we NEED to cause LOVE. We Can Choose CHARITY. God chose healing over damnation. God is GOOD. We can choose to be good. You can be kind. We can LIVE here... LIVE our lives out of the spirt of CHARITY.  Which is the point of today's verses from Fist Timothy, chapter one, verse five; "Now the end of the commandment is CHARITY out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned:" This is basically the mission statement for Christians. If we would live this out our lives and our communities would be transformed!! Imagine that! Please learn with us; how to live a charitabl...

CHARITY

1 Corinthians 13:12 & 13 "12 For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known. 13 And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity." CHARITY is GOD'S LOVE. When we demonstrate CHARITY and LOVE to another person we are GOD'S hands working in this world! It is in our church, our families and our communities that we called to be Christ like. We need to find ways to FALL IN LOVE and not out. As the new hymn "I Choos Love," linked in yesterday's devotional, points out; we need to choose love. Our "CHARITY" is our expression of "LOVE." In today's verses Paul teaches that; we do NOT KNOW. We do not see the whole picture in this life. "For now we see through a glass, DARKLY; but then face to face: now I know IN PART; but then shall I know even as also I am known." When we use prophecy, cleaver speaking and k...

Choose Love

1 Corinthians 13:9-11 "9 For we know in part, and we prophesy in part. 10 But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away. 11 When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things." Charity and love is a BIG DEAL to Paul, and us, because they represent GOD in our lives! When we demonstrate CHARITY and LOVE to another person we are GOD'S hands working in this world! Everything else will FAIL, CEASE or VANISH! The only thing we can count on is GOD'S LOVE; CHARITY. Jesus did what we could not; He closed the divide between God and man. Prophecy, speaking and knowledge will all come to a end. People often use these things to differentiate themselves and create division. Creating quarreling factions. Like we see politics today. And, the division in our country and community. The is Satan's plan divide and conquere. Divided we are not just two, we ar...

FAIL, CEASE or VANISH!

1 Corinthians 13:8 "Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away." Charity and love are a BIG DEAL to Paul, and us, because they represent GOD in our lives! When we demonstrate CHARITY and LOVE to another person we are GOD'S hands working in this world! CHARITY began with GOD giving His Son to be sacrificed on the cross. CHARITY is the highest form of love, GOD giving in a way that can never be repayed. Everything else will FAIL, CEASE or VANISH! As Paul teaches in today's verse; "Charity NEVER faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away." The only thing we can count on is GOD'S LOVE; CHARITY. Jesus did what we could not; He closed the divide between God and man. Giving you and me the everlasting gift of life in heaven.  Prophecy...

charity is GOD'S hands

1 Corinthians 13:4-7 "4 Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, 5 Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; 6 Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth; 7 Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things." We are studying verses that are VERY famous and used at MANY weddings. The commonly used translation will have the word "LOVE" where the KJV has "CHARITY." Keep in mind; this was NOT written to a man and a woman about to be joined in Holy Matrimony. These verses were written to a church. A church divided by infighting and quarreling between different factions. Unfortunate nastiness between brothers and sisters in Christ.  The Apostle Paul began by saying "if I don't have charity I am NOTHING." He is saying "CHARITY" is really important. Really, really important. Maybe th...

CHARITY vs. LOVE

1 Corinthians 13:2 & 3 "2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing. 3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing." We are continuing in our series titled; Seasons of Life. This week the lesson has the theme of "Falling in LOVE." We turn to verses that are VERY famous and used at MANY weddings. The commonly used translation will have the word "LOVE" where the KJV has "CHARITY." As we study these verses keep in mind; they were NOT written to a man and a woman about to be joined in Holy Matrimony. These verses were written to a church. A church divided by infighting and quarreling between different factions. Unfortunate nastiness between brothers and sisters in Christ.  The Apostle Paul begins this section of ...

sounding brass & tinkling cymbal

1 Corinthians 13:1  "Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal." GOD'S plan for you and for me is to GIVE out "free samples" of GOD'S LOVE to people wandering around not knowing what they want. They will realize THEIR OWN hunger for the Gospel and be LEAD to Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. We studied this lesson last week in the Epistle from the Apostle Peter to the Churches he worked with. And, we get to benefit from his advice on Answering CHANGE.  We continue in our series titled; Seasons of Life. This week the lesson has the theme of "Falling in LOVE." We turn to another Epistle from another Apostle. These verses are VERY famous and used at MANY weddings. The commonly used translation will have the word "LOVE" where the KJV has "CHARITY." We will look at which word is best as we study this week. We DO need all these things in wedding...

Teach me...

Psalm 32:8 "I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with Mine eye." It's GOD'S plan for you and for me. It's the plan shared here in this blog.  It's the plan shared in church from the pulpit. It's the plan shared to Peter and he shared it with everyone in his Epistle.  It's a good plan. LEAD people to JESUS.  Give out "free samples" of GOD'S LOVE to those wandering around not knowing what they want.  We will stand out and people will realize THEIR OWN hunger for the Gospel.  Let people see your conviction and passion.  Look for open doors… open opportunities to share the Gospel. We have to show compassion in this hostile culture. We must learn to love others deeply.  Even when we are not loved. It's a challenging mission and one that we are all on. Meet the world in gladness.  Rooted in the wholeness of God. Strengthened by our worship together.  Please join us at one of the oldest Luther...

GOD'S plan

1 Peter 3:17 "17 For it is better, if the will of God be so, that ye suffer for well doing, than for evil doing." And it's as simple as that. We will suffer in this life, no way around that. But, the question is; will you do the right thing or the wrong thing? Peter advised it's better to do the right thing. Peter knew it was natural to want to fight back. But Don't. Remember who you are. An EXILE in a hostile world. Meet the world in gladness. Rooted in the wholeness of God. Let the wicked world know us by our love. Show compassion when hostility is shown to you.  Peter further taught the good conscience being MUCH BETTER than a guilty conscience that causes you anguish and remorse. People of this world are vain, proud, haughty, and arrogant. They will gossip and lie about you; "speak evil." Our task is to live in such a way that no one will believe them. And, MAYBE they will be ashamed of how they treated you.  We have to show compassion in this hostil...

Good conversation in Christ

1 Peter 3:16 "Having a good conscience; that, whereas they speak evil of you, as of evildoers, they may be ashamed that falsely accuse your good conversation in Christ." This week we are studying St. Peter's advice in his Epistle. He has built up his lesson to this point evoking the writing in the Psalms and Jesus's own Sermon on the Mount. In yesterday's verse he made the major point; "But sanctify the Lord God in YOUR HEARTS: and be ready always to give an ANSWER to every man that asketh you a reason of the HOPE that is in you with meekness and fear:" There is a whole lot in this one verse. We need to know and LOVE the Holy Scriptures. Encouragement to respond with conviction and compassion. While also standing up for the faith. Be ready to speak the name of JESUS. Live with conviction for your FAITH in the one TRUE GOD.  Even when you are labeled intolerant. Learn to respect others but know you don't need to share their beliefs. "with meeknes...

give an ANSWER

1 Peter 3:15 "But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:" This week we are studying how we want to ANSWER change. We look to the Discple who experienced CHANGE on a level very few of us ever will; Peter. When he writes this Epistle he has some perspective and insight. He has built up his lesson to this point evoking the writing in the Psalms and Jesus's own Sermon on the Mount. In today's verse he gets to the whole point... "But sanctify the Lord God in YOUR HEARTS: and be ready always to give an ANSWER to every man that asketh you a reason of the HOPE that is in you with meekness and fear:" "But sanctify the Lord God in YOUR HEARTS:" We need to know and LOVE the Holy Scriptures. Learn the creeds and sing the hymns with gusto! The people Peter is writing to were suffering for their faith. He wants to encourage them to stay t...

Happy and Blessed

1 Peter 3:13 & 14 "13 And who is he that will harm you, if ye be followers of that which is good? 14 But and if ye suffer for righteousness' sake, happy are ye: and be not afraid of their terror, neither be troubled;" This week we will study how we want to ANSWER change. We look to the Discple who experienced CHANGE on a level very few of us ever will; Peter. When he was in the Garden of Gethsemane with Jesus and a few Disciples, they were ATTACKED; Peter responded by CUTTING OFF the ear of a servant there with the High Priest. Not so good. Some of the time Peter's example is a cautionary one. We don't want to go around cutting people's ears off. But, what CAN we learn from Peter? Years later,  after the Resurrection, Peter went on mission trips through the northern areas of Asia Minor preaching the Gospel. And, years after that he wrote letters to the people he visited with advice and guidance. Which is what we have in the Epistle; First Peter. Just a few...

the righteous and the wicked

1 Peter 3:12  "For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and His ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil." CHANGE will keep coming. Change from within and change from without. It's all part of God's plan. Last week we started our series titled; Seasons of Life and focused on the Flavors of Fall and the way change keeps coming like the changing seasons of the years. This week we will study how we want to ANSWER change.  Yesterday we visited an event in the Gospel record when CHANGE was happening suddenly and violently. Jesus and His core group of Disciples were in the Garden of Gethsemane. After praying there the group is surprised by the Chief Priests, Elders and Judas. The Disciples and Jesus feel like they are being ATTACKED! Just when everything is going HAYWIRE, Peter responded by CUTTING OFF the ear of a servant there with the High Priest. Peter was swept up in the moment and reacted out of fear and gets a mi...

HAYWIRE!!!

Matthew 26:51 & 52 51 And, behold, one of them which were with Jesus stretched out his hand, and drew his sword, and struck a servant of the high priest's, and smote off his ear. 52 Then said Jesus unto him, Put up again thy sword into his place: for all they that take the sword shall perish with the sword. Yesterday we celebrated the 175th Anniversary of our beautiful church; Holy Ghost Lutheran Church in Fredericksburg Texas. We gathered at the Gillespie County Fairgrounds and had a wonderful worship experience with the HAYWIRE Bluegrass Band and a delicious bar bee que meal. I wish you could have been there!  175 years is a very long time. It doesn't just happen, it takes a lot of work. There were many church services, many seasons, many births, many Baptisms, many marriages, many Holy Bible studies and many funerals. All by the Grace of God. This church has witnessed and been part of a lot of change in the last 175 years. And the change keeps coming. Change from within ...

175th Anniversary!!!

Colossians 1:15-17 "15 Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature: 16 For by Him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by Him, and for Him: 17 And He is before all things, and by Him all things consist." AND, the season of life will come to an end. We all will face our WINTER of life and then there will follow the SPRING in heaven. Our Lord and Savior was sacrificed on the cross so that you and I could go to heaven no matter what mistakes we made during the seasons of life. Jesus Christ is our Lord in all the seasons, in this life and in the next life! Jesus "is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature: For by Him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all th...

SPRING into heaven

Ecclesiastes 3:7 & 8 "7 A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak; 8 A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace." It will be our life's journey finding our purpose in God's plan. God's CHANGE. Life has many seasons, enjoy them all. Times of changing relationships, situations, circumstances. We can be in multiple seasons at once. Life is complicated. Our challenge is to find our purpose in God's plan. God's CHANGE.  Today's verses continue the theme; "A time to REND, and a time to SEW; a time to keep SILENCE, and a time to SPEAK; A time to LOVE, and a time to HATE; a time of WAR, and a time of PEACE." One day IT'S there and the next day IT'S gone. Changes comes. Constantly. When one thing ends another begins.   AND, the season of life will come to an end. We all will face our WINTER of life and then there will follow the SPRING in heaven. Our Lord and Savior was sacri...

Cast Away

Ecclesiastes 3:5 & 6 "5 A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing; 6 A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away;" As things change we have to recognize that God's hand is at work making things CHANGE. We are faced with different SEASONS and TIME is always changing. This is by God's design. We need to find our purpose in God's plan. God's CHANGE.  Each season has it's own character. Each has activities unique to that time of year. Enjoy them all. Life has it's seasons, enjoy them too. Times of changing relationships, situations, circumstances. It's a lot about feelings. Where ever you are the feelings can match situation or be in contrast. We can be in multiple seasons at once. Life is complicated. Our challenge is to find our purpose in God's plan. God's CHANGE.  Each time and season comes with a counter experience. We want to...

laugh & dance

Ecclesiastes 3:3 & 4 "3 A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; 4 A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;" In our series titled; Seasons of Life we are learning, from the prophet Daniel; GOD "changeth the times and the seasons." As things change we have to recognize that God's hand is at work making things CHANGE. And EVERYONE knows it; the 1965 hit song "written" by Pete Seeger was released called "Turn! Turn! Turn!" The lyrics consist of the first eight verses of the third chapter of the biblical Book of Ecclesiastes. Which we are studying this week.  We are faced with different SEASONS and TIME is always changing. This is by God's design. We need to find our purpose in God's plan. God's CHANGE. Birth and death are extreme ends of the spectrum with usually a fair amount of time in between. Many seasons can make up our lives. Each season has it's...

God's CHANGE

Ecclesiastes 3:2 "A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;" In our series titled; Seasons of Life we are starting with the Flavors of Fall. We are learning, from the prophet Daniel; GOD "changeth the times and the seasons." As things change we have to recognize that God's hand is at work making things CHANGE. And everyone knows it; the 1965 hit song "written" by Pete Seeger was released called "Turn! Turn! Turn!" The lyrics consist of the first eight verses of the third chapter of the biblical Book of Ecclesiastes. Which we are studying this week. Now every hippie and pop culture mavin knows these verses by heart even if they have never picked up the Holy Bible in their life. "To every thing there is a SEASON, and a TIME to every purpose under the heaven:" All through our lives we are faced with different SEASONS and TIME is always changing. This is by God's design. We ...

"Turn! Turn! Turn!"

Ecclesiastes 3:1 "To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:" We began a new series titled; Seasons of Life. And this week we will focus on the Flavors of Fall. In all seasons; The Holy Bible we hold in our hands is a treasure trove of eyewitness accounts and testimonials to the work of our Lord in His world and in the LIVES and TIMES of His people. We need to treat it as such; "glorifying and praising God for all!" Yesterday, in the book of Daniel, we read the words from the prophet; GOD "changeth the times and the seasons." As things change we have to recognize that God's hand is at work making things CHANGE. Today we turn to verses that were impactful and famous since they were first written. And, then in 1959 a song "written" by Pete Seeger was released called "Turn! Turn! Turn!" The lyrics – except for the title, which is repeated throughout the song, and the final two lines – consist of the...

GOD changeth

Daniel 2:20-22 "20 Daniel answered and said, Blessed be the name of God for ever and ever: for wisdom and might are His: 21 And He changeth the times and the seasons: He removeth kings, and setteth up kings: He giveth wisdom unto the wise, and knowledge to them that know understanding: 22 He revealeth the deep and secret things: He knoweth what is in the darkness, and the light dwelleth with Him." Last week we completed our daily devotional study of Children of the Heavenly Father. We are all children of God. Because of this we want to study the Holy Scriptures and come away "glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told unto them." The Holy Bible we get to hold in our hands is a treasure trove of eyewitness accounts and testimonials to the work of our Lord in His world and in the LIVES and TIMES of His people. We need to treat it as such; "glorifying and praising God for all!" Today we begin a new series title...

glorifying and praising God for all!

Luke 2:20 "And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told unto them." We completed our daily devotional study of Children of the Heavenly Father. Ending here in the Gospel of Luke, chapter two, the written account of THE CHILD of the Heavenly Father being born as a baby! And, more than just a baby; The Savior, Emmanuel (means "God is with us.") and THE MESSIAH …the HEAVENLY king.  The shepherds told their account of events to everyone who would listen. It was marvelous, incredible and wonderful! And, Mary shared her memories with Dr. Luke who recorded it for The Gospel. And, today you and I can read about it and treasure it ourselves.  We can take inspiration from the shepherds; we can study the Holy Scriptures and come away "glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told unto them." The Holy Bible we get to hold in our hands is a treasure ...

Mary KEPT

Luke 2:17-19 "17 And when they had seen it, they made known abroad the saying which was told them concerning this child. 18 And all they that heard it wondered at those things which were told them by the shepherds. 19 But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart." We are studying the Gospel of Luke, chapter two for the written account of The Child of the Heavenly Father being born as a baby! The Son of God, came into this world JUST LIKE you and me! We were all babies at one time in our lives. Needing help and protection. The Savior needed protection. The Heavenly announcement was made to the shepherds out in the field. "For unto you is born this day in the city of David a SAVIOUR, which is Christ The Lord." The announcement ends with GOD'S message; "PEACE, GOOD WILL toward men." His Son, Jesus Christ, is laying in the manger in the care of His earthly parents. God was there with them and He is with us; "Emmanuel." Emmanuel ...

a HEAVENLY king

Luke 2:15-16 "15 And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us. 16 And they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and The Babe lying in a manger." The written account of The Child of the Heavenly Father is here in the Gospel of Luke, chapter two. The incarnate Jesus Christ, The Son of God, came into this world JUST LIKE you and me! We were all babies at one time in our lives. Needing help and protection. The Savior needed protection. We need The SAVIOR like sheep need a shepherd. A GREAT Heavenly announcement was made to the shepherds out in the field. "behold, I bring you GOOD TIDINGS of GREAT JOY, which shall be to ALL people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a SAVIOUR, which is Christ The Lord."  GOD says "PEACE, GOOD WILL toward men." As His Son is born...

God is with us

Luke 2:12-14 "12 And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find The Babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. 13 And suddenly there was with The Angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, 14 Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men." In our study Children of the Heavenly Father we return to the Gospel of Luke for the written record, chapter two. It ALL took place so Christ was born in Bethlehem. "And she brought forth her firstborn Son, and wrapped Him in swaddling clothes, and laid Him in a manger;" The incarnate Jesus Christ, The Son of God, came into this world JUST LIKE you and me! For unto you i...
