Matthew 25:31
"When the Son of man shall come in His glory, and all the holy angels with Him, then shall He sit upon the throne of His glory:"
We continue our series, Gathering in the Name of Jesus, exploring Jesus's promises to be with us. Last week, in John's Gospel, we were encouraged by Jesus's words: “I am the way, the truth, and the life.” We closed with Paul's declaration in Romans that salvation is God's work from start to finish—eternally secure. No sin, trial, or attack can undo what Christ has accomplished. Believers are secure now and forever.
Today we turn to Matthew 25 for another perspective on Jesus's presence with us. As events build toward the crucifixion, Jesus assures His disciples that He will return to make all things right for eternity. We love hearing this promise.
Jesus calls Himself the “Son of Man,” a title from Daniel 7:13 denoting divine authority and kingship. His first coming was in humility; His second will be in full divine glory.
He returns not alone but with all the holy angels—a vast, majestic entourage underscoring the cosmic scale and divine authority of the event.
Christ sitting on “His glorious throne” marks the start of final judgment, signifying His supreme authority as Judge of all humanity. This image can stir fear in our hearts—we know we're not good enough. Yet we remember: Jesus paid the price for our sins...
