like a STORM

Acts 2:1&2
"1 And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.
2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting."

Who could possibly understand the resurrection as an experience? The Disciples didn't. It's incomprehensible! As Luke recorded for us, they all had failings and did not do what they hoped they would do. Jesus did spend another forty days with His disciples before His ascension. Jesus ordered them to WAIT. Wait until they are Baptized by the Holy Ghost! This is great advice for all Christians. We don't know what GOD has planned for us. God's plans and timing are sovereign and beyond our control. 

In today's verses, it is ten days later, Luke describes the powerful manifestation of the Holy Ghost. We have all been outside when the wind is blowing fiercely. Imagine that when you are inside a locked room. A safe space that should not have wind! A place where you think you are protected from the elements! And, now it feels like a STORM!

Acts 2:7&8 "7 And they were all amazed and marvelled, saying one to another, Behold, are not all these which speak Galilaeans? 8 And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born?" The Holy Ghost is the only way this happens. They were very surprised to be hundreds and, some cases, thousands of miles from "home" and hearing their language spoken! It was astonishing! Appreciate that these devout Jewish people whose families had been carried away from Israel generations before. Taken in captivity by armies that invaded and conquered Israel.
