Matthew 14:26&27
"26 And when the disciples saw Him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a spirit; and they cried out for fear.
27 But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid."
"Be NOT afraid."
This is Jesus's message to His Disciples when they see Him doing ANOTHER incredible thing. Jesus is walking on water! He rushed over to save them. He was on a secluded mountain top miles away. He was trying to get some downtime after feeding five thousand people. But, it was not to be. Now, a storm in the Sea of Galilee is threatening to sink the Disciples ship! This is some superhero type of action! It's definitely supernatural and unprecedented!
From our perspective, we can see that Jesus is the Son of God. It makes sense to us that He can walk on water. His Disciples knew Jesus as a man, a teacher and a friend. When they see Him walking on the stormy waters they don't even recognize Him. "they were troubled, saying, It is a SPIRIT; and they cried out for FEAR." It would be terrifying to be in a storm, in a ship about to sink, and see a person walking on the water towards you!
