Luke 22:31&32
"31 And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat:
32 But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren."
Think about it, Simon Peter needed to be "converted." We are used to thinking about him as the founding father of the Christian church. And! Jesus prayed for him. Our Lord and Savior praying for Peter's FAITH. The Son of God asking Peter to "strengthen thy brethren." Amazing thoughts to read about and contemplate.
Now, for the real mind blower, these hopes and prayers, that Jesus has for Peter, Jesus has them for you and me, too!!! Jesus wants us to be His followers. He wants our FAITH to be strong, and He wants us to strengthen one another.
This past week we studied the parable of the Good Samaritan. At the end of it, Jesus got the expert in the law to admit that the Samaritan was the good neighbor. And! Jesus told him "Go, and do thou likewise." Show mercy, compassion and sacrificial generosity! Jesus demands that we feed the hungry, quench the thirsty, take in the homeless, clothe the naked, heal the sick, visit the prisoners, help least and lowest. Help them all like we are helping Him. Don't doubt Jesus.
