obey

Exodus 23:22
"But if thou shalt indeed obey His voice, and do all that I speak; then I will be an enemy unto thine enemies, and an adversary unto thine adversaries."

Last week we studied The Law, and how it's a gift from God to help form us into better versions of ourselves. Jesus used The Shema, to highlight just how fundamental these concepts are. We want to know and understand the 10 Commandments and Jesus's teachings. It is important to our lives and the well-being of our society. 

Today we return to the book of Exodus where God has promised to send an Angel to help Joshua and the Israelites. God says "OBEY His voice, and do all that I speak." Make a condition of His promise the obedience of His people. God doesn't want them worshiping other gods. The benefits of obedience are GREAT! GOD will be on their side! God will help them defeat their enemies!

Luke 1:51-53 "51 He hath shewed strength with His arm; He hath scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts. 52 He hath put down the mighty from their seats, and exalted them of low degree. 53 He hath filled the hungry with good things; and the rich he hath sent empty away." This is Mary's Magnificat. Beginning with verse forty-six Mary's responds to Elizabeth’s blessing is EPIC! In this poem Mary praises GOD for His blessing to her and His faithfulness to Israel.  Mary's Magnificat also highlights a series of reversals in which the proud are humbled and the humble are exalted!
