Take, eat

Matthew 26:26
"And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is My body."

Holy Communion is a wonderful gift from God. Today we turn to the Gospel of Matthew for Jesus's words of institution. "Take, eat; this is My body." Implied here are the words FOR YOU.

Notice Jesus did not offer them choice. He commands the Disciples "Take, eat." They will come to know this is His broken body and His shed blood, and their belief of that fact CHANGES them. Later, when He is no longer bodily present with them, they will experience His presence in the bread and wine. Proclaim the Lord's death and resurrection until He returns.

Luke 1:51-53 "51 He hath shewed strength with His arm; He hath scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts. 52 He hath put down the mighty from their seats, and exalted them of low degree. 53 He hath filled the hungry with good things; and the rich he hath sent empty away." This is Mary's Magnificat. Beginning with verse forty-six Mary's responds to Elizabeth’s blessing is EPIC! In this poem Mary praises GOD for His blessing to her and His faithfulness to Israel.  Mary's Magnificat also highlights a series of reversals in which the proud are humbled and the humble are exalted!
