Acts 9:1&2
"1 And Saul, yet breathing out threatenings and slaughter against the disciples of the Lord, went unto the high priest,
2 And desired of him letters to Damascus to the synagogues, that if he found any of this way, whether they were men or women, he might bring them bound unto Jerusalem."
We have been in the Book of Acts studying some apocalyptic verses that are eerie and ominous. And, some prophetic words that are encouraging; "WHOSOEVER shall call on the name of the Lord SHALL be SAVED." Encourages us to call on our Savior Jesus Christ to save us! Before the end of the world or before the end of you. Which ever comes first.
Today we stay in the Book of Acts to study the event of GOD calling someone who the Disciples and the rest of the Jesus followers DID NOT LIKE! They had VERY good reasons to not like Saul. This man was hunting Christians. He was there when Stephen was martyred. He may have done even worse. As today's verses open he is looking to do more to the Christians; "And Saul, yet breathing out threatenings and SLAUGHTER against the disciples of the Lord, went unto the high priest, And desired of him letters to Damascus to the synagogues, that if he found any of this way, whether they were MEN or WOMEN, he might bring them BOUND unto Jerusalem." It's not something we like to think about; God pursues those we don't like. God offers His Grace and Mercy to those who are hard to love; the mean and destructive people. The arms of God's grace reaches all sinners. Even enemies of the church. Like SAUL.
