His servant John

Revelations 1:1&2
"1 The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto Him, to shew unto His servants things which must shortly come to pass; and He sent and signified it by His angel unto His servant John:
2 Who bare record of the word of God, and of the testimony of Jesus Christ, and of all things that he saw."

We were studying God Sightings the last few weeks. Culminating with Jesus sacrificed on the cross. What a place to see the Son of God?!?! And, if the story ended there we would have no reason to talk about it today. But, the events did not end there, where men INTENDED it to end, NO! It continues on Easter morning when Jesus rises from the grave! Having defeated sin and death! Rising to claim the throne over all creation and being the ruler of all eternity! GOD is NOT dead! GOD is our Savior! Now, and always!!

As we journey through the Lenten season we will study Experiencing GOD. Today starting in the last book of the Holy Bible; Revelation! The Apostle John, the writer of Revelation, had many GREAT experiences with GOD. Some of his greatest experiences happened on the isle of Patmos where the Roman authorities had him imprisoned in exile. This is when and where John is given the experiences that become the book of Revelation!

God’s patience

2 Peter 3:9 "The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance." God did not immediately punish King Solomon when he allowed his foreign wives to build altars for false gods. Despite multiple compromises, God remained patient. Over time, Solomon’s endorsement of idolatry defied God’s covenant, leading to divine judgment, including the loss of the kingdom for his son. Some mistake God’s patience for indifference or inaction, but He follows His plan in His timing. If our nation, culture, church, or we ourselves stray like Solomon, we can repent and return to God’s path. And, should do so sooner than later! Amen!
