Exodus 3:3&4
"3 And Moses said, I will now turn aside, and see this great sight, why the bush is not burnt.
4 And when the LORD saw that he turned aside to see, God called unto him out of the midst of the bush, and said, Moses, Moses. And he said, Here am I."
We are studying "God Sightings." We have returned to the second book of the Old Testament; Exodus. The Jewish people have become slaves to the Egyptians. Moses grew up in the Egyptian royal family. As an adult Moses had to flee into hiding. In the wilderness he married and made a life. Many years later God called to him from the burning bush. "The Angel of The LORD appeared unto him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush..."
In today's verses we read how the bush burns but doesn't burn up or out; "And Moses said, I will now turn aside, and see this great sight, why the bush is not burnt. And when the LORD saw that he turned aside to see, God called unto him out of the midst of the bush, and said, MOSES, MOSES. And he said, Here am I." And, from within that burning bush GOD called out to Moses by name! We might be too familiar with these events. We need to step back and notice that Moses was witnessing FIRE that no person started. Moses heard a voice that was NOT spoken by human lips. Moses did not find another person present here BUT out of the flames and the heat he was being addressed by NAME!!!
