Numbers 11:16-20
16 And the LORD said unto Moses, Gather unto Me seventy men of the elders of Israel, whom thou knowest to be the elders of the people, and officers over them; and bring them unto the tabernacle of the congregation, that they may stand there with thee.
17 And I will come down and talk with thee there: and I will take of the spirit which is upon thee, and will put it upon them; and they shall bear the burden of the people with thee, that thou bear it not thyself alone.
18 And say thou unto the people, Sanctify yourselves against to morrow, and ye shall eat flesh: for ye have wept in the ears of the LORD, saying, Who shall give us flesh to eat? for it was well with us in Egypt: therefore the LORD will give you flesh, and ye shall eat.
19 Ye shall not eat one day, nor two days, nor five days, neither ten days, nor twenty days;
20 But even a whole month, until it come out at your nostrils, and it be loathsome unto you: because that ye have despised the LORD which is among you, and have wept before Him, saying, Why came we forth out of Egypt?
God solves the problem!
The people cried to the Lord. Moses prayed to the Lord. And, GOD listened. They were all unhappy. The people were sick and tired of manna everyday! God is angry because of the Israelites ingratitude to Him for rescuing them and their contempt of the manna He has provided. Moses is displeased with the people and with the Lord for laying this great burden upon him.
Moses was overwhelmed by the responsibilities of his office. Moses was in such dire straights that he wished he was dead! He sees no way out of this situation. He is giving up hope, even though he has the ear of the Creator of the Universe! In today's verses GOD helps Moses; "And the LORD said unto Moses, Gather unto Me seventy men of the elders of Israel, whom thou knowest to be the elders of the people, and officers over them; and bring them unto the tabernacle of the congregation, that they may stand there with thee. And I will come down and talk with thee there: and I will take of the spirit which is upon thee, and will put it upon them; and they shall bear the burden of the people with thee, that thou bear it not thyself alone."
We will read the number SEVENTY frequently in the Holy Scriptures. It is composed of the two sacred numbers seven and ten—the former being the seal of the covenant, and the latter denoting perfection. This addition of the seventy does not diminish the office Moses holds. Like another candle lit in a dark room doesn't diminish the light of another candle.
And, GOD helps the people; "And say thou unto the people, Sanctify yourselves against to morrow, and ye shall eat flesh: for ye have wept in the ears of the LORD, saying, Who shall give us flesh to eat? for it was well with us in Egypt: therefore the LORD will give you flesh, and ye shall eat. Ye shall not eat one day, nor two days, nor five days, neither ten days, nor twenty days; But even a whole month, until it come out at your nostrils, and it be LOATHSOME unto you: because that ye have despised the LORD which is among you, and have wept before Him, saying, Why came we forth out of Egypt?"
It just might blow your mind; GOD can and will grant your desires until they become a curse to you! GOD is among us everyday. Do we recognize and appreciate the "manna" He provides us???
