Genesis 22:3-5
"3 And Abraham rose up early in the morning, and saddled his ass, and took two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son, and clave the wood for the burnt offering, and rose up, and went unto the place of which God had told him.
4 Then on the third day Abraham lifted up his eyes, and saw the place afar off.
5 And Abraham said unto his young men, Abide ye here with the ass; and I and the lad will go yonder and worship, and come again to you."
In our series titled Children of the Heavenly Father; we have gone back to Genesis. Studying an event that took place approximately four thousand years ago! At this time in Abraham's life he is growing old and he has experienced a lot. He is living a peaceful life tending to his flock in the open pasture. It's at this time of abundance and tranquility the most severe test is given to Abraham; God is asking him to sacrifice his son...
"And Abraham ROSE up EARLY in the morning, and SADDLED his ass, and TOOK two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son, and CLAVE the wood for the burnt offering, and ROSE up, and WENT unto the place of which God had told him." Every step is an example of Abraham's obedience. He is taking action and demonstrating OBEDIENCE.
"Then on the THIRD DAY Abraham LIFTED up his eyes, and saw the place afar off. And Abraham said unto his young men, ABIDE ye here with the ass; and I and the lad will go yonder and WORSHIP, and come again to you." Moving forward, going to the point where of no return. The point where Abraham will have to make his sacrifice...
