2 Samuel 12:1&2
"1 And the LORD sent Nathan unto David. And he came unto him, and said unto him, There were two men in one city; the one rich, and the other poor.
2 The rich man had exceeding many flocks and herds:"
We’re exploring how God’s plan prevails despite human failures, focusing on King David, a man after God’s own heart, renowned for his faith and accomplishments.
By this point, David had grown comfortable in his royalty, likely ignoring counsel or the conviction of the Holy Spirit. Yet God mercifully sent Nathan to reach him.
We cannot assume God will always strive with the unrepentant. As Genesis 6:3 states, “My Spirit shall not strive with man forever.” When we sense the Holy Spirit’s conviction, we must respond immediately, as it may not persist.
With wisdom, Nathan used a story about a pet lamb, common in those days, to pierce David’s heart.
