like a fire

Acts 2:3&4
"3 And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.
4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance."

Fifty days after Jesus's resurrection, His disciples are gathered in a closed room. They are faithfully waiting for the baptism of the Holy Ghost. This room is a safe space for the disciples. They are surprised by a fierce wind inside their room! They should be protected from the elements, but, now it feels like a STORM!

This is the powerful presence of the Holy Ghost! The "tongues" of fire are the divine empowerment and the presence of the Spirit upon each individual. They are given a supernatural gift of speaking in foreign languages! Immediately they are sharing the Gospel with hearers of foreign languages! Another miraculous blessing!

Matthew 6:11 "Give us this day our daily bread." Last week we focused our studies on “Thy Will Be Done...” We can TRUST in the LORD with ALL our hearts. Let GOD lead us in our daily lives. GOD'S will is for you and me to follow His plan. Accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior. Serve Him by helping your friends and neighbors. It's a beautiful way. The rest of this petition is “On Earth as it is in Heaven.” We want God’s kingdom to be established on earth, reflecting the harmony and perfection found in heaven. We can have this in the here and now by prioritizing God’s will, seeking His guidance, and striving to live according to Biblical principles. However, we must keep in mind that we live in a fallen world. Too many will not join in our journey with Jesus. This tension and stress will cause everyone difficulties.
