Mark 16:2&3
"2 And very early in the morning the first day of the week, they came unto the sepulchre at the rising of the sun.
3 And they said among themselves, Who shall roll us away the stone from the door of the sepulchre?"
We just celebrated Easter. Our commemoration helps us appreciate and understand the deep LOVE GOD has for us! If we carefully read the personal accounts in the Gospel, we will find them deeply informative. These verses take us to the empty tomb on that first Easter morning. These women are demonstrating their devotion and care for Jesus even after his death by showing up to anoint the body of Jesus. They had not been able to do it before the Sabbath began due to the Jewish law prohibiting work on the Sabbath. This act of anointing was a common practice to prepare a body for burial.
These women were with Jesus during His ministry. They were present at the foot of the cross during Jesus's crucifixion. They remained steadfast while the male disciples had fled out of fear. They continue to support Jesus even AFTER His death. They have shown up and are not sure if they can open the tomb. They are going to figure it out as they go...
