1 Corinthians 1:18&19
"18 For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.
19 For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent."
The execution of Jesus, crucified like a common criminal, was seen as a sign of weakness and defeat. By both the Jews who expected a powerful Messiah and the Greeks, who valued human wisdom and power.
However, to Christians, the cross is understood as the power of God. It signifies God's plan of salvation through Jesus Christ's sacrifice, which is the ultimate act of divine power and wisdom.
Paul contrasts human wisdom and divine wisdom. The cross, which seems foolish to the world, is actually the wisdom and power of God. In today's devotional, Royce quotes the Holy Bible to make the point even more clear.
