Matthew 14:24&25
"24 But the ship was now in the midst of the sea, tossed with waves: for the wind was contrary.
25 And in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea."
Last week we studied Baptism. This week we return to recognizable verses in the Gospel of Matthew. Where the Disciples are afraid, they are about to experience another kind of Baptism! Their ship sinking in this storm in the Sea of Galilee!
These events directly follow Jesus feeding the multitude with five loaves and two fish, a miracle that highlights Jesus’ compassion and power. Without a doubt Jesus and His Disciples are worn out from all the activities and commotion that comes with feeding thousands of people. Jesus sent the Disciples ahead in the boat, and He sought some downtime alone.
Only now the Disciples are in peril and Jesus goes into superhero mode! "...Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea."
