Mary knew...

Luke 2:16&17
"16 And they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the Babe lying in a manger.
17 And when they had seen it, they made known abroad the saying which was told them concerning this Child."

We are trying to imagine what Mary, the Mother of Jesus experienced. She was a young mother. The months of her pregnancy were stressful as family and friends didn't believe her story. Next, traveling to Bethlehem for the census. And, then going into labor when they had NO place to stay. Giving birth in a barn and laying her newborn in a manger, where the livestock ate!

Next, strangers began showing up, saying the heavens opened up and a choir of angels were singing the praises of her newborn. It's an incredible situation from every perspective. The more you think about it, the more amazing we realize it is.

Mary had to wrestle with these mysteries and the harsh reality of the events that happened. She had to ask "Why me?" She experienced these things and could not know how it all came together. She had to trust God. We need to take inspiration from Mary. We need to trust God.

God’s patience

2 Peter 3:9 "The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance." God did not immediately punish King Solomon when he allowed his foreign wives to build altars for false gods. Despite multiple compromises, God remained patient. Over time, Solomon’s endorsement of idolatry defied God’s covenant, leading to divine judgment, including the loss of the kingdom for his son. Some mistake God’s patience for indifference or inaction, but He follows His plan in His timing. If our nation, culture, church, or we ourselves stray like Solomon, we can repent and return to God’s path. And, should do so sooner than later! Amen!
