Psalms 3:5&6
"5 I laid me down and slept; I awaked; for the LORD sustained me.
6 I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people, that have set themselves against me round about."
We will all experience reasons for LAMENTING. We are blessed to have numerous examples to learn from in the Holy Scriptures. We are studying one from chapter three of the book of Psalms. Written by King David during his flight from his son Absalom, who had rebelled against him. Really imagine David’s distress and despair in the face of his numerous enemies and even his own son.
David is in a woeful situation, without a doubt, and he turned to our GOD. The verses paint a comforting picture of God lifting David’s head and hearing his cries for help. These verses also show us the pattern. Get the fear and complaints out and then shift to hope in God! Have faith that God will provide. Faith doesn't end danger or attacks, but God will shield you. Lift your head up, don't be downcast or downtrodden.
Even in the most troubling of times, rest in the comfort of GOD. "I laid me down and slept; I awaked; for the LORD sustained me. I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people, that have set themselves against me round about." David had whole nations against him and at times even his own family. Jesus had the political and religious leaders out to get Him and was even betrayed by His own friend. We should not be surprised when we face opposition and betrayal. We should turn to our LORD in faithful prayer.
