Psalms 73:24-26
"24 Thou shalt guide me with Thy counsel, and afterward receive me to glory.
25 Whom have I in heaven but Thee? and there is none upon earth that I desire beside Thee.
26 My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever."
We have been studying the questions that Jesus asked. Jesus's questions are very educational. This week was Martha confronting Jesus when He shows up four days after the death of His friend, her brother, Lazarus. Jesus asked Martha "DO YOU BELIEVE THIS?" And, she answered "Yea, Lord..." Martha's FAITH is inspiring. Even though she was wrecked with grief and conflicted with thoughts of what could have been, she turned to Jesus help and comfort.
Yesterday we returned to the Book of Psalms for encouragement. Chapter seventy-three, this Psalm is a nuanced exploration of human experience, offering a powerful and relatable portrayal of faith, doubt, and redemption. These verses would have been helpful to Martha. These verses would have been part of the foundation of Martha's strongly held beliefs. And, these verses can be helpful to you and me with the challenges we face today.
Yesterday's verses reminded us that in our hour of need God is there with us! God is holding our hand. Today's verses explains even more! "Thou shalt guide me with Thy counsel, and afterward receive me to glory." Following GOD'S plan will keep us from straying into mischief. Believing in GOD will get us into heaven. When we get to heaven and meet GOD all other thoughts and concerns will disappear. "Whom have I in heaven but Thee? and there is none upon earth that I desire beside Thee." We all need to reach the point we desire nothing more than we desire GOD. No one and no thing on earth can substitute for GOD! All our happiness is in GOD!
We are weak and fragile. "My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever." GOD is with you in the here and now. Hold on to GOD now and always. God will last as long as your immortal soul. Forever and ever. Amen.
