"Lord, Whose Love in Humble Service" #423
"2. Still Your children wander homeless; still the hungry cry for bread; still the captives long for freedom; still in grief we mourn our dead. As You, Lord, in deep compassion healed the sick and freed the soul, by Your Spirit send Your power to our world to make it whole."
Jesus fed 15,000 people (maybe more?) a miraculous meal! AND! They had 12 baskets of leftovers! This free lunch would leave a lasting impression on everyone. Especially the Disciples, witnessing this event up close.
Our Lord and Savior declared, “I am the bread of life. He is the fulfillment of the Old Testament promise of God providing bread for His people in the wilderness (Exodus 16:4-36) and is a declaration of Jesus’ identity as the MESSIAH and THE SOURCE of spiritual nourishment.
All the time, the things we study in the Holy Bible and work to understand are very beautifully explained in classic hymns. Like "Lord, Whose Love in Humble Service." This is a beautiful expression of devotion and worship to God. The lyrics speak of Christ’s selfless love and service, and how we, as believers, are called to follow His example. It's a GREAT hymn!
