Matthew 16:17
"And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven."
So, it is with all of us!
When and if we are blessed to answer Jesus's question correctly, it was "revealed" to us by GOD! Martin Luther saw this as the concept of justification by faith alone. He teaches us that it is not based on our own understanding or effort, but solely on God’s grace and mercy. We believe that faith is a gift from God that enables us to receive the benefits of Christ’s sacrifice! So, salvation is a sovereign act of God’s grace, received through our FAITH in Jesus Christ.
Each and every person will have to answer this question. The CORRECT answer requires us to acknowledge Jesus as the Messiah, the Son of God, and the Savior of the world. The implications of answering correctly are profound. We are acknowledging Jesus’ divinity, His authority, and His power to save us. It means that we are committed to following Him, to obey His teachings, and to trust in His promises. Now, and into eternity!
