2 Timothy 3:3-5
"3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,
4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;
5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away."
In this part of the letter to Timothy, Paul is describing what people will be like "in the last days." They "shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy," and the list continues in today's verses. It's a list that accurately characterizes people. It's amazing that Paul had these insights 2000 years ago, AND they are STILL true today! People have not changed! The persecution of Christians was terrible. Roman leaders were burning them alive, sending them to their death in the Coloseum and other cruel and unusual punishments. And, in our world today, Christians are persecuted and murdered. We continue "in the last days."
