Gospel Flows

Acts 1:8
"But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto Me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth."

Here Jesus is speaking to His Disciples. Telling them to spread the Gospel message in their city- Jerusalem, their state- Judaea, their neighboring country- Samaria, and the rest of the world! This past week we studied how the persecution motivated early Christians to leave their homes and go "abroad." This helped spread the Gospel message. Then we read the results of Philip the Evangelist's energetic preaching, performing miracles and baptizing hundreds, if not thousands of people! "...there was GREAT JOY in that city."

This is God's plan. We are created to glorify God and to enjoy God forever. When we do not glorify God and to enjoy God, we are at odds with God. God will need to do whatever it takes to get us back on track. This is true for us individually and as a community or country. We need to become motivated and filled with the Holy Ghost. Then we can experience GREAT JOY by spreading the Gospel message "unto the uttermost part of the earth!"

God’s patience

2 Peter 3:9 "The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance." God did not immediately punish King Solomon when he allowed his foreign wives to build altars for false gods. Despite multiple compromises, God remained patient. Over time, Solomon’s endorsement of idolatry defied God’s covenant, leading to divine judgment, including the loss of the kingdom for his son. Some mistake God’s patience for indifference or inaction, but He follows His plan in His timing. If our nation, culture, church, or we ourselves stray like Solomon, we can repent and return to God’s path. And, should do so sooner than later! Amen!
