Acts 1:6
"When they therefore were come together, they asked of Him, saying, Lord, wilt Thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel?"

Central to Mary and the Apostles' misunderstanding was their inability to remember Jesus's teaching. In today's verses, we read a bit of Jesus's teaching where He promised GOD God would send the Holy Ghost! They needed the Holy Ghost and you and I need the Holy Ghost!

Following His resurrection, Jesus spent the next 40 days teaching His disciples. Even after that, the Apostles do not comprehend what Jesus is teaching. In today's verse they ask Jesus this question, "Lord, wilt Thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel?" They had low expectations. They were thinking about themselves and their country, their people. The Disciples still thought Jesus was restoring the kingdom of Israel. Isn't this typical? Don't we go to GOD with our focus being on OUR pressing needs and wants? We think of the things that are closest to us. Where God's perspective is much, much broader...

God’s patience

2 Peter 3:9 "The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance." God did not immediately punish King Solomon when he allowed his foreign wives to build altars for false gods. Despite multiple compromises, God remained patient. Over time, Solomon’s endorsement of idolatry defied God’s covenant, leading to divine judgment, including the loss of the kingdom for his son. Some mistake God’s patience for indifference or inaction, but He follows His plan in His timing. If our nation, culture, church, or we ourselves stray like Solomon, we can repent and return to God’s path. And, should do so sooner than later! Amen!
