Acts 2:38&39
"38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call."
"Peter delivered a message, inspired by the Holy Ghost, that was clear and direct. The individuals listening had been present when Pilate offered to release Jesus, but instead, they had chosen to shout, "CRUCIFY HIM!" Now, they felt accountable for Jesus's demise. Overwhelmed, they asked, "What must we do?"
"Then Peter said unto them, REPENT, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even AS MANY as the Lord our God shall call."
Peter's statement, "every one of you," implies that these promises are accessible to everyone who hears his words, as much a guarantee for them as they are for Peter himself. The phrase, "those that are afar off," suggests that this offer extends to everyone not present in that moment. To clarify, Peter adds, "even as many as the Lord our God calls." This decision is not in the hands of Peter, myself, or you, but in the hands of God."
