Luke 24:11&12
"11 And their words seemed to them as idle tales, and they believed them not.
12 Then arose Peter, and ran unto the sepulchre; and stooping down, he beheld the linen clothes laid by themselves, and departed, wondering in himself at that which was come to pass."
The big heavy stone rolled away. The two angels in SHINING GARMENTS. Jesus's body is no longer there! All seemed like "idle tales!" Who would believe such things? These ladies experienced it all and they remembered Jesus's teaching! Their experience and inspiration from the Holy Ghost has them knowing about the Resurrection! Knowing in a way that they will never forget.
In today's verses they are reporting their experiences to their friends and peers. The Apostles knew these ladies. They were a small, close-knit community. STILL! They did NOT believe them! Wisely, Peter and John went to investigate. "...he beheld the linen clothes laid by themselves, and departed, WONDERING in himself at that which was come to pass." He had to be thinking that the report from the ladies had something to it. Could it be true? Would he also remember Jesus's teaching and begin to BELIEVE? YES! INDEED! CHRIST HAS RISEN!
