Romans 3:20&21
"20 Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in His sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.
21 But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets;"

Moses was on the mountain with God for 40 days when he was given the 10 Commandments. This was a major life experience for everyone involved. It influenced and shaped the world going forward from this event. All people NEED laws. We need the basic foundation we learn in the 10 Commandments. There is no love in the laws. It's just DON'T kill or steal. The basics for living together as a community of people. How to be decent and civilized. Not a small point.

When Jesus comes along and explains the breadth and depth of the Law, we begin to understand how woefully inadequate we are at doing God's will for our lives. We begin to understand the secondary purpose of the law, to show us our sin and make us realize we NEED a Savior. Jesus, the Son of God, is the ONLY person to achieve personal obedience to the Law. This, along with His death on the cross, gives us our Salvation. We are saved by God's grace. This does not diminish the Law. Instead, it magnifies the Law! The Law demonstrates to us that we cannot personally save ourselves. We need Jesus.

The Bread of Life

John 6:33-35 "33 For the bread of God is He which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world. 34 Then said they unto Him, Lord, evermore give us this bread. 35 And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst." We were studying GOD'S Covenant symbolized by the RAINBOW. It's a VERY important message to know that the Great Flood will NOT happen again. When we see the RAINBOW we want to remember this Covenant. We also want to remember our own Covenant with GOD and how the waters of Baptism washed us clean and gives us the promise of eternal life. This week we will study another Covenant from GOD; The Covenant of Holy Communion. Instituted by our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. 2 Kings 14:25 "He restored the coast of Israel from the entering of Hamath unto the sea of the plain, according to the word of the LORD God of Israel, which he spake by the hand of His servant Jonah, the son of Amittai, the prophet, which was of Gathhepher." We’re continuing our series on God’s calling of His people. Last week we saw how God transformed the Apostle Paul—from zealous enemy to greatest champion. A clear theme is emerging: those God calls often start with reluctance. This week we meet one of the most famous reluctant prophets, Jonah. Jonah’s first recorded prophecy appears in 2 Kings 14:25.
