drink all of it

Matthew 26:27
"And He took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it;"

Holy Communion is a wonderful gift from God. We have turned to the Gospel of Matthew for Jesus's words of institution. Yesterday, "Take, eat; this is My body." Implied are the words FOR YOU. And today, "Drink YE all of it;"

Try to think of how later, when Jesus is no longer bodily present with them, they will experience His presence in the bread and wine. Proclaim the Lord's death and resurrection until He returns. They will have this moment, this night, to remember. They will see Jesus die on the cross. They will see Him buried. And they will see Him alive again!!! He will teach them a little more before returning to His seat at the right hand of the Father. After all these incredible events, they can, and we can, break a little bread and drink a little wine, remembering Jesus. Remembering His death on the cross that was our death. Payment for our sins! Once and for all!

Acts 2:7&8 "7 And they were all amazed and marvelled, saying one to another, Behold, are not all these which speak Galilaeans? 8 And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born?" The Holy Ghost is the only way this happens. They were very surprised to be hundreds and, some cases, thousands of miles from "home" and hearing their language spoken! It was astonishing! Appreciate that these devout Jewish people whose families had been carried away from Israel generations before. Taken in captivity by armies that invaded and conquered Israel.
