Mark 1:9
"And it came to pass in those days, that Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was baptized of John in Jordan."

We are studying Jesus's Baptism from the verses of Mark's Gospel. John the Baptizer is the voice calling out in the wilderness, making way for the Messiah. He said he was NOT WORTHY to untie the sandals of Jesus. In today's verse he BAPTIZED Jesus!!!

The whole point of John the Baptizer's ministry was to announce the arrival of the Messiah. Everyone sees this event as Jesus stepping onto the public stage as the Son of God. From here, Jesus will spend 40 days in the wilderness and then His ministry becomes a whirlwind of miracles, preaching and teaching.

Luke 1:51-53 "51 He hath shewed strength with His arm; He hath scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts. 52 He hath put down the mighty from their seats, and exalted them of low degree. 53 He hath filled the hungry with good things; and the rich he hath sent empty away." This is Mary's Magnificat. Beginning with verse forty-six Mary's responds to Elizabeth’s blessing is EPIC! In this poem Mary praises GOD for His blessing to her and His faithfulness to Israel.  Mary's Magnificat also highlights a series of reversals in which the proud are humbled and the humble are exalted!
