show don't tell

Matthew 17:2
"And was transfigured before them: and His face did shine as the sun, and His raiment was white as the light."

Show don't tell, is the mantra of modern writers. 
In the previous chapter, Jesus was asking His Disciples who they thought He was. Peter gave a great answer. But, he kept talking and revealed that he didn't understand at ALL.

So, six days later, Jesus has a small detour planned for three of His Disciples. The four left the others and headed up to the mountain top. These Disciples thought they KNEW how things would go. They were going to be somebody. Jesus has to recalculate them back to God's plan. 

Jesus has told His Disciples who He is, many times. And, they have witnessed many of His miracles. But, now He is showing them, "And was transfigured before them: and His face did shine as the sun, and His raiment was white as the light." What a sight to behold! This is one of the greatest moments of all time!

God’s patience

2 Peter 3:9 "The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance." God did not immediately punish King Solomon when he allowed his foreign wives to build altars for false gods. Despite multiple compromises, God remained patient. Over time, Solomon’s endorsement of idolatry defied God’s covenant, leading to divine judgment, including the loss of the kingdom for his son. Some mistake God’s patience for indifference or inaction, but He follows His plan in His timing. If our nation, culture, church, or we ourselves stray like Solomon, we can repent and return to God’s path. And, should do so sooner than later! Amen!
