Exodus 3:7&8
"7 And the LORD said, I have surely seen the affliction of My people which are in Egypt, and have heard their cry by reason of their taskmasters; for I know their sorrows;
8 And I am come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up out of that land unto a good land and a large, unto a land flowing with milk and honey; unto the place of the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites."
By all accounts, being in the presence of a Holy God is the scariest experience you can have. Moses hides his face. Moses is terrified! The voice confirms he is on Holy Ground and that this is the GOD of his forefathers! And he was being called by name.
In today's verses, GOD tells Moses that He knows the sorrows of His people. God hears the cries of His afflicted people. God has witnessed the oppression they have endured. God promises speedy deliverance. GOD begins sharing His plan. "I am come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians," This is the first time in the Holy Bible where the enumeration of the nations then in possession of Palestine. This is a pivotal moment of geopolitical world history.
