Exodus 1:12-14
"12 But the more they afflicted them, the more they multiplied and grew. And they were grieved because of the children of Israel.
13 And the Egyptians made the children of Israel to serve WITH RIGOUR:
14 And they made their lives bitter with hard bondage, in morter, and in brick, and in all manner of service in the field: all their service, wherein they made them serve, was WITH RIGOUR."
After Thanksgiving, everyone's eyes become focused on Christmas. Too many people have forgotten about Advent. Advent begins on the Sunday nearest to November 30. This is a period of preparation for the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ and also the Second Coming of Christ. We should think of Advent as the meat and potatoes of our FAITH to the dessert that is Christmas. In our preparation we will follow a series called CHILDREN of GOD. And, this week our focus is BABY MOSES; The First Deliverer!
We turn to the book of Exodus where the at one time sanctuary of Egypt has turned into a nightmare prison. The Egyptian king brutally oppressed the Israelites. Slavery is an inhumane practice. The slaves were abused and tortured mentally and physically. Euphemistically touched on here as "...WITH RIGOUR." The Israelites grew in number, frightening the King, worried about his hold onto power. He planned to stop their growth...
