1 Thessalonians 5:9&10
"9 For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,
10 Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with Him."

We are studying Paul's first letter to the Thessalonians. Specifically, a section where he is ENCOURAGING them. Paul cautioned us that Christians CAN be converted BACK into “children of darkness.” The worldly culture will want us to be more like them; decadent, excessive, and self-indulgent. None of this is good for Christians. He is encouraging us to use the GIFTS from GOD to protect ourselves from the temptations of the world. Putting on the full Armor of God!

Today's verses; "For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to OBTAIN SALVATION by our Lord Jesus Christ, Who DIED for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should LIVE together with Him." Jesus DIED for us. So, we can LIVE for HIM. His death was the atoning sacrifice for our sins. He died for everyone. If we are awake to this fact we need to live a life that honors GOD. If someone is asleep to this fact they are still living in GOD'S world and they will face difficulty and consequences for their actions. Better to spend our time with Jesus; reading the Holy Bible, praying earnestly and worshiping frequently.

Acts 2:7&8 "7 And they were all amazed and marvelled, saying one to another, Behold, are not all these which speak Galilaeans? 8 And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born?" The Holy Ghost is the only way this happens. They were very surprised to be hundreds and, some cases, thousands of miles from "home" and hearing their language spoken! It was astonishing! Appreciate that these devout Jewish people whose families had been carried away from Israel generations before. Taken in captivity by armies that invaded and conquered Israel.
