John 20:16&17
"16 Jesus saith unto her, Mary. She turned herself, and saith unto Him, Rabboni; which is to say, Master.
17 Jesus saith unto her, Touch Me not; for I am not yet ascended to My Father: but go to My brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto My Father, and your Father; and to My God, and your God."
Mary witnessed Jesus crucified.
She help bury His body. She returned to the grave and found out His body was gone. She is anxious to find Jesus's body. She is in agony with grief. Her mind is foggy. The pain and loss she is feeling is great.
She looks into the tomb and talks with two angels. And then Jesus shows up! He asked her "WHY WEEPEST thou?" Now, today's verses; "Jesus saith unto her, Mary. She turned herself, and saith unto Him, Rabboni; which is to say, Master. Jesus saith unto her, TOUCH ME NOT; for I am not yet ascended to My Father: but go to My brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto My Father, and your Father; and to My God, and your God."
Mary's fear and anxiety are GONE! JESUS is RISEN indeed! She is overcome with joy and relief. Most likely she is about to prostate herself at His feet. She is ready to pay homage to her risen Lord and remain with Him. Jesus has other plans. This is not the time to delay at the tomb. There will be more opportunities for reunion and celebration.
