Genesis 16:1&2
"1 Now Sarai Abram's wife bare him no children: and she had an handmaid, an Egyptian, whose name was Hagar.
2 And Sarai said unto Abram, Behold now, the LORD hath restrained me from bearing: I pray thee, go in unto my maid; it may be that I may obtain children by her. And Abram hearkened to the voice of Sarai."
We are continuing to study Women of Faith. Last week we looked at the famous sisters from the Gospel events; Mary and Martha. From those verses we learned that we want to chose the GOOD PARTS and we want to focus on on what is positive and best. This we we will study Hagar, the slave of Sarai, Abram's wife. This is an event that records a lot of human pain balanced it with some of God's grace.
God had promised Abram, or Abraham, that he would have MANY descendents. Only Abram was getting old. It looked like they would have no children. In today's verses we read that Sarai has a plan to have children through a surrogate; "Now Sarai Abram's wife bare him no children: and she had an handmaid, an Egyptian, whose name was HAGAR. And Sarai said unto Abram, Behold now, the LORD hath restrained me from bearing: I pray thee, go in unto my maid; it may be that I MAY OBTAIN CHILDREN BY HER. And Abram hearkened to the voice of Sarai." These events took place about four thousand years ago. Surrogacy is nothing new. As we read through these happenings we will witness the results...
