Luke 10:42
"But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her."
Martha was not rejoicing. She was missing her opportunity to be with Jesus. Jesus sees her heart and mind. Jesus can feel her stress and He wants to HELP her. There is a personal bond between these two, where they can talk to each other. BUT, He is not going to take away from Mary just so Martha can feel better. "Mary has chosen the GOOD PART."
Martha invited Jesus into her home and her sister Mary did not help; so, she complained! What she did was something she would not do to ANY OTHER guest in her home. Martha ORDERED Jesus to tell Mary to HELP her. Martha made choices all along the way and was not happy with the results. It was not Mary's fault that Martha was unhappy. We can each guard our thoughts so we do not go down the same path that Martha has. While we want to aspire to be hospitable and serve our friends and family like Martha, we also want to come to Jesus's feet and appreciate all He is doing for us.
