Ruth 2:11&12
"11 And Boaz answered and said unto her, It hath fully been shewed me, all that thou hast done unto thy mother in law since the death of thine husband: and how thou hast left thy father and thy mother, and the land of thy nativity, and art come unto a people which thou knewest not heretofore.
12 The LORD recompense thy work, and a full reward be given thee of the LORD God of Israel, under whose wings thou art come to trust."
In the book of Ruth, Naomi and family fled the horrible conditions that were in Israel. They settled in Moab and made a life there. Until, Naomi lost her husband and both sons. This is a picture of major life DISRUPTION. After all this Naomi returned to her hometown, Bethlehem, with one of her daughters in law; Ruth. Ruth, the Moabite, who just lost her husband, left everything behind! Ruth is STEDFAST and FAITHFUL.
Naomi and Ruth have lost everything. They are among the poorest of the poor. Ruth is gleening from the fields when she is noticed by Boaz, a relative of Naomi's. Boaz shows favor and gives special treatment to Ruth. When she asks why? He answers in today's verses; "And Boaz answered and said unto her, It hath fully been shewed me, all that thou hast done unto thy mother in law since the death of thine husband: and how thou hast left thy father and thy mother, and the land of thy nativity, and art come unto a people which thou knewest not heretofore. The LORD recompense thy work, and a full reward be given thee of the LORD God of Israel, under whose wings thou art COME to TRUST."
Boaz is impressed with Ruth STEDFASTNESS and FAITHFULNESS. In a time when the people of Israel were doing what was right in their own eyes. Ruth sacrificed for her mother in law when she didn't need to. Ruth had every right to feel sorry for herself. She lost her husband too. She didn't need to move to Bethlehem. But, she did and she trusts in the LORD.
