Acts 2:5-7
"5 And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven.
6 Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because that every man heard them speak in his own language.
7 And they were all amazed and marvelled, saying one to another, Behold, are not all these which speak Galilaeans?"
Jesus's promise to His followers to send the Holy Ghost! In the Gospel of John, before the crucifixion. Then, in the Book of Acts, chapter one, after the crucifixion the resurrected Jesus is guiding the Disciples to stay in Jerusalem for forty days to recive the Holy Ghost!
When the forty days came, the day of Pentecost, the Disciples were gathered together in a closed room when "rushing mighty wind" filled the house they were in. "And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with OTHER TONGUES, as the Spirit gave them utterance." They were speaking other languages. Languages they had not learned by natural means. Languages that other people present could understand!
Today's verses; "And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of EVERY NATION UNDER HEAVEN. Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because that every man heard them speak in HIS OWN LANGUAGE. And they were all amazed and marvelled, saying one to another, Behold, are not all these which speak Galilaeans?" It was an miraculous event, it had to blow people's minds!
The Holy Ghost was their helper. The Holy Ghost is our helper, too. He gives us power from on high. The Holy Ghost breathes into our ears, minds. It's not about who we are It's about who Jesus is. Acceptance with God is based on who Jesus is. Jesus is our Lord and Savior!
