take and eat

Matthew 26:26
"And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is My body."

This week we are studying GOD'S Covenant of Holy Communion. Instituted by our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. In yesterday's verses Jesus gave us a deep insight; "I Am the BREAD of LIFE." And, not just the BREAD of LIFE for the Israelites but for the entire world!

Today we turn to the Gospel of Matthew, chapter twenty-six, verse twenty-six, when Jesus is having The Last Supper with His Disciples. "And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, TAKE, EAT; this is My BODY." Jesus is feeding His Disciples. God feeds His people. In the Garden of Eden. In the wilderness after being saved from slavery. When Elijah is on the run from Jezebel. On the hill side after Jesus preached a great lesson. At the supper table before being betrayed. And, every time we come to the alter for Holy Communion. Food nourishes our bodies and the Bread of Life nourishes our SOULS. Holy Communion helps us carry on. Through the long haul. The good times and the bad times. GOD helps us continue to run the race.

God’s patience

2 Peter 3:9 "The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance." God did not immediately punish King Solomon when he allowed his foreign wives to build altars for false gods. Despite multiple compromises, God remained patient. Over time, Solomon’s endorsement of idolatry defied God’s covenant, leading to divine judgment, including the loss of the kingdom for his son. Some mistake God’s patience for indifference or inaction, but He follows His plan in His timing. If our nation, culture, church, or we ourselves stray like Solomon, we can repent and return to God’s path. And, should do so sooner than later! Amen!
