Exodus 20:7-10
"7 Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh His name in vain.
8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.
9 Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:
10 But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:"
THE SECOND COMMANDMENT:
You shall not take the name of the Lord, your God, in vain. We should fear and love God, so that we do NOT curse, swear, practice witchcraft, lie or deceive by His name, but call upon Him in every trouble, pray, praise and give thanks.
THE THIRD COMMANDMENT:
You shall keep the day of rest holy. We should fear and love God, so that we do not despise preaching and His Word, but hold it sacred and gladly hear and learn it.
These two, along with the FIRST COMMANDMENT: You shall have no other gods, make up the first table of the Ten Commandments. In this table we are instructed how to have a relationship with GOD! It is a challenging set of rules. We don't like to study them because we break them on a regular basis. Swear words are used openly and in all parts of our society today. Conversations are corse and downright rude. People are not praying and praising GOD like we should.
And, we are not any better with the third commandment; "the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt NOT do any work..." We work on Sunday, we treat it like another day of the week. We don't go to church, we play sports, we entertain ourselves and do all kinds of things other than praising and worshiping our GOD. We need to reform and rededicate ourselves to GOD and His Ten Commandments!
