Matthew 14:27-29
"27 But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid.
28 And Peter answered Him and said, Lord, if it be Thou, bid me come unto Thee on the water.
29 And He said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus."
Jesus and the Disciples had fed the multitude. Then Jesus arranged to have some quiet time "ALONE." The Disciples sailed away and then found themselves in trouble. A storm blew up and was about to sink their ship! Jesus comes walking over the chaos of waves and wind that have the small boat tossing and turning. It's a terrifying experience the Disciples are having and Jesus comes in the night, in the storm, walking on the water to help them!
Today's verses; "But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid." Jesus comes to His Disciples in the night walking on the water. They are His followers but they don't yet understand who Jesus is. "Take courage." Jesus says. Jesus wants to ease their fears. He is there to help.
"And Peter answered Him and said, Lord, if it be Thou, bid me come unto Thee on the water. And He said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus." Peter ALSO walks on water!!! It was miraculous! Peter has faith enough to step out of the boat and walk across the surface of the sea!!! IT'S AMAZING!!!
