Exodus 20:1-3
"1 And God spake all these words, saying,
2 I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.
3 Thou shalt have no other gods before Me."

We are studying God's Covenant. GOD saved us we want to be His light to the world. We will let Holy Scriptures "...GUIDE our feet into THE WAY of PEACE." Given to us by our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ! This week we focus on our obedience to God by studying His Ten Commandments. The people that received the two tablets of the law were saved by GOD from slavery in Egypt. These people witnessed and experienced many of GOD'S miracles. When we read the record of this time it seems almost unbelievable that these people would forget GOD'S glory and love and then have a tough time obeying GOD. But, are we really any different than them?

Today's verses; "And God spake all these words, saying, I Am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. Thou shalt have No Other gods before Me." The FIRST Commandment! We should fear, love and trust in God above ALL things. People can worship false gods, and do. Sometimes mythical creatures. Sometimes belief systems that are the cultural norm. Sometimes a political entity. Sometimes it's money and financial security, or the work that provides these things. Or, it's their diversion like a sports team, or, maybe a fictional franchise that every waking hour is devoted to. We are all too prone to put something ahead of GOD. EVEN THOUGH GOD has told us NOT TO! 
In His very FIRST COMMANDMENT!

Luke 1:51-53 "51 He hath shewed strength with His arm; He hath scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts. 52 He hath put down the mighty from their seats, and exalted them of low degree. 53 He hath filled the hungry with good things; and the rich he hath sent empty away." This is Mary's Magnificat. Beginning with verse forty-six Mary's responds to Elizabeth’s blessing is EPIC! In this poem Mary praises GOD for His blessing to her and His faithfulness to Israel.  Mary's Magnificat also highlights a series of reversals in which the proud are humbled and the humble are exalted! Which we read in today's verses; "He hath shewed STRENGTH with His arm; He hath scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts.
